COLLEGE FOOTBALL RETURNS

Collegiate football returns this weekend with hoopla and fanfare.  Many of us fans will be glued to the television to watch our favorite team; or in the case of my husband and myself favorite teams.
Grocery stores will have sales on snack items as well as beverages. Sports pubs and bars will offer food and drink specials. Department and outlet stores will have team apparel available as well as other team paraphernalia.  It’s a big money making business indeed.
I enjoy watching college football.  I usually begin my Saturday watching the pre-game sports news; then the game/or games.  Depends if my teams/teams are televised.
I don my team shirt; do my pre-game ritual cheer.
About fourteen years ago I found a small stuff animal at a thrift store. It was a lion. I purchased it and it has become my personal mascot during college football season. Over the years it has become a bit raggedy but it comes off the shelf the first week and remains until the championship bowl game.  I carry it in my purse  if I go out to catch a game out someplace. It’s my own THING I do.  This little item has been with me through the good years and bad of my favorite team/teams. It’s close to me when I watch the college games. Yes I even have certain shirts I wear Thursday (college games do play on Thursday) to Saturday.  I call this a tradition but some may call it a weird thing.
Traditions are important in our lives or so I feel.  For me it keeps me grounded if only for a few months out of the year.
As I sit and compose this blog I am tuned to a college game. My first game for the season.  Will the team I am cheering for win? It’s still in the cards but win or lose I know they played their best.
Today I pulled a college tee out of storage and proudly wore it on my errands. Tomorrow another tee will be making a public appearance.
College football 🏈 has returned and that means fall is in the air with pumpkin flavored food and drink which will be another blog at a later day.
Until next time....enjoy the college football season.
