July has come to an end. August begins today. I’m not sure where the month has gone. It seems like it just begun; I was at the July E-Board meeting now today I’m going to the August meeting. The days are speeding by so quickly.
July’s vintage cartoons were interesting and some brought back memories of my childhood. I’m looking forward to Terry’s August words. You’ll find this out tomorrow what she has up her sleeve. Of course with the heat she may not be wearing sleeves so let’s say what is in her brain.
The last cartoon for July was the SMURFS.
I enjoyed watching the cartoon on Saturdays while having my coffee. For some strange reason it cleared my head from the work week prior. It’s funny how different things can trigger and help a person unwind. I’m not sure if the Smurfs would help me clear my mind these days or not. The past few weeks while having coffee I’ve been watching the Game Show Channel and the old game show “PRESS YOUR LUCK”. Today it’s the Hallmark Movie and Mysteries Channel and the show “Monk”. I always enjoy the antics of the main character but really enjoyed the character Randy Disher, the police lieutenant. I’ve always felt that Randy tried really hard to prove himself. Every time I watch this show I fondly think of my cousin-in-law Johnny. This was a show he enjoyed watching. As I sit typing this, watching the show I feel relaxed; if only for a short time. Today is the monthly Executive Board meeting at the Amvets; after I’ll visit with my husband. This visit will be later than usual but I think he understands the reason I’m late.
The piece I composed was inspired by what my husband can view from his window at rehab. We watched as birds flew to a bird feeder then squirrels getting into it. We watched birds splash in a birdbath. I wrote that piece as a time piece something I’ve not done for awhile.
I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.
Until tomorrow….do something different today that you don’t usually do; and as always Stay Safe.

HIS VIEW
Outside the window birds flock to
the bird feeder
Unfortunately squirrels raid it too
At least the squirrels haven’t used
the birdbath
That doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen
Interesting view he sees from the
window at the rehab facility

SMURFS
The SMURFS tiny blue creatures
Lived in mushroom houses in a peaceful forest
They were all male….only one female
named Smurfette
As an adult I found the cartoon a good way to clear my head on a Saturday morning while having coffee
