Yesterday I changed up the gifts a bit. It was suppose to be wine and wine glass day; we ended up doing Day Ten's gift idea.
Yes I have the wine and glass for hubby BUT I am a thrifty person when it comes to things. Found out one of our favorite restaurants had a special deal for February 6th only so I decided to do the early Valentine's Day out. First we stopped for drinks at one of the veteran's clubs where we hold membership. I purchased pre-meal drinks for us. After that went for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. Later I took hubby out for margaritas and home made fresh salsa and chips at a locally Mexican restaurant. We were sitting having drinks when the space shuttle was launched and we could see it pass over near us. It has been awhile since we took time to find out if we can see the shuttle after launching. Arriving home we were filled to our gills with food and drink.
While at the Mexican restaurant we purchased a large container of salsa and package of homemade chips to give as a gift to one of our favorite bar servers. She'll receive this later this morning when we stop to see her.
We also will giving out little valentine cards with a heart shape lollipop to a few that we see.
On Day Five I mentioned to a friend about what Day Six's gift was going to be. Funny because he said he'd have to run out where there is a wine sale (not mentioning store here) to get his wife a bottle. As for a wine glass he planned to check the white elephant tables at a few of the veteran's clubs where we hold membership or he'd hit a thrift store on his way home. Did I think that he was joking...NO I did not. In fact he asked what remainder of days would hold; after finding out Day Seven to Eleven he asked if he could change up on gifts for the day. Why? He wanted to give his wife my book of love poems on Day Ten and do Day Ten on Day Seven. Found out he had coupon for special food deal at their favorite eatery. So he was not the only one being thrifty.
I mentioned the other day I had a small box of candy for this one guy I know. I plan to deliver it on Day Eight. Three people heard this and want to know why they aren't getting anything from me for Valentine's Day. Seems one is never to old to receive a child like card and a small token. So if you think some people are too old for a child like Valentine and a little box of candy, think again. Yes, I'll be picking up a few small boxes of chocolates for these three gentlemen as well as another box of little Valentine's.
DAY EIGHT GIFT
DAY EIGHT......A dozen heart shaped cookies.
Day eight's surprise is easy to find in any bakery or bakery section of your local supermarket. If you are ambitious you could make cut-out heart shape cookies instead. I even think I once saw slice and bake with little hearts years ago. For me it's easier to just run and buy them already made. A cookie or two (no more than two) and a cold glass of milk or cup of
coffee hits the spot on a winter afternoon or evening.
Enjoy today's poem about the value of love. Ponder the words as they do ring true (in my opinion).
Until tomorrow enjoy your day.

VALUE of LOVE
©Scottie-ann Murphy
Value of love is a treasure that
can not be bought
And....can not be sold....no
matter what some may think
Like paid job wages....LOVE....
must be earned by hard work
Even though we do try buying
love with expensive
purchases
Now and again....gifts are a nice
gesture and greatly welcomed
Though often forgotten days,
weeks, months and years
later
It is easier it seems to buy with
money....then Give with time
Not everyone realizes little
actions or deeds do really
matter
Earn love from that special
person by doing....not buying
Spend time listening to them....
give them a hug....share a joke
Don't forget to just say "I love
you" each and every day
Appreciate also all they do for
you....no matter how trivial
You will find that the value of
love is a priceless treasure
