SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER
Today....PURCHASE a FEW BOXES of
CHRISTMAS CARDS for NURSING
HOME PATIENTS
FOOD BOX: CAN of CORN
A few years ago a veteran’s organization which I hold membership held a collection drive for boxes of Christmas cards. They planned on taking them to a local nursing facility for patients. The patients would then have cards to send to their family members or friends. The organization also took a collection to purchase stamps for the patients to send the cards.
This was a wonderful idea indeed. I had known many who had family/friends in nursing homes. Many of these people can not get out and would enjoy getting a box of cards which to send. The cards need not be just for the holidays. You can take a box of assorted all occasion cards; these boxes include birthday, get well, thinking of you and condolences. In some instances you can find boxes under five dollars. Another idea; perhaps you have unused cards you never used. Gather them together and put them into a plastic storage type bag; take them to a local facility for the patients. They would welcome them gladly.
I had done this previously and gesture was gratefully appreciated. This small act of spreading cheer does not take much time or effort. You are helping someone in need and spreading holiday cheer to another.
Until tomorrow.....enjoy spreading the cheer.
Tomorrow....call a family member you have not spoken with in a while.
