SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER....Day Eight

December 7th...Day 8 ‘SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER’
Take snacks to a local veterans organization for the patrons to enjoy.

Day 8 FOOD BOX
Dessert Mix

I have not talked about the FOOD BOX yet.  I’m taking time to do so today.  The box of dessert mix can be anything from a cake mix, brownie mix, cookie mix, jello or pudding mix. Decide what you would like to receive if you were recipient.  If putting in a cake mix don’t forget the frosting.  You can also pick up a package or two of cookies (check expiration date).
Today is December 7th, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.  Many veterans organizations will have a flag raising or remembrance service.  This would be good day to take some snacks to the local canteen.  Pretzels, cheese balls, chips or a snack mixture would make a good donation.   The veterans will not only be surprised but appreciate your act of kindness.  Last year I did this for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.   The veterans club where I took the snacks were appreciative that someone thought of them during the holidays.  It’s little gestures this time of the year that perhaps brighten someone’s bad day.  The veterans clubs brings together both men and women who have a common thread; they served their country proudly.  The taking of the snacks is only a gesture of saying thank you to them.
Yesterday I did not find a bell ringer at any of the stores where I live. I found it odd. I had cold bottles of water for the person.  What I did find was the guy in my neighborhood who was doing some lawn care.  I ended up handing him the bottles (I had two) of water and explained it was my way of spreading holiday cheer.  Did he seem surprised? Yes!
It is alright to tweak the daily act if need be for one reason or another.  As long as you are doing an act based on the daily suggestions.
