Many veterans organizations have a fund they set aside to help veterans; whether wounded, in a hospital or homeless. During this time of year, they receive requests from many places that help veterans in the community. I found a local benevolent organization that hosts a nursing home veteran’s Christmas luncheon each year. They request help with giving each person attending a small gift and holiday card. It need not be just a veteran’s organization that is helping our veterans. Many local veterans organizations may need help in putting together food baskets for needy veterans in the community. A monetary donation or even grocery store gift card can help to purchase items for a food basket. Of course it’s not just food items; they could be purchasing a coat or much needed item of clothing to a veteran in need. Your donation, no matter how small, will be appreciated greatly by the local organization.
Yesterday I surprised a few in my community by bringing in their recycle receptacles after the weekly pick up. Our recycled items are usually picked up about two hours before our trash. I hurried out once the truck left the street to bring in containers for few of the neighbors. One asked why I did; I answered “Why not! Holiday helpfulness. I’m spreading cheer.” He just smiled and said “Thank you.”
Until tomorrow enjoy your day and keep spreading cheer wherever you may go today.
Heads up for Day 7
