Take supplies to a local animal shelter

Animal shelters need help year round.  Volunteers are always welcomed to help in different capacities.   Supplies are always needed as well.  It’s not just food for the animals but cleaning supplies are greatly in demand.  Paper towels, sponges, disinfectant and other such materials will be welcomed. Many of us don’t think about the behind the scene activities at shelters.  What work occurs on a daily basis is one thing of which we are unaware.  Pet areas need to be kept cleaned.  Many places sell six or eight pack rolls of paper towels which would be helpful.  You can find sales weekly in cleaning supplies.  Perhaps a call to the shelter to inquire what they need would be helpful in your decision.  If all else fails make a monetary donation.  Remember these pets don’t want to be there; they are looking for a ‘Forever Home’.  

Yesterday I took a cup with hot chocolate packets to a person in my neighborhood.  He works in the office of our community.  He was happy to receive this little surprise.  Besides the hot chocolate I put a package of peppermint sticks.

Purchase a few Christmas stockings at a discount store.  Put something inside then give to friend, co-worker, neighbor or family member.
