SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER....Day Nine

December 8th...Day 9 of SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER’
Take a few poinsettias or holiday bouquet to a local nursing home.

Day 9 FOOD BOX
Jar of applesauce

Nothing brightens up a room during the holidays then a poinsettia or two.  I like both the red and white ones and then there is a light shade of pink.  Mostly it is the red mist people purchase.  What better way to bring some cheerfulness to a nursing home then some red poinsettias or a holiday bouquet.  Many of the holiday bouquets have not only flowers but they also include holly and pine branches.  It’s best to inquire if the nursing home would allow the poinsettias or bouquets but I’m sure they will be a welcome.  If live poinsettias can not be brought into the facility, you can always purchase silk arrangements from most stores.  Last year I gave silk arrangements of poinsettias to an acquaintance who was going to a local nursing home.  I found they were quite welcomed in rooms of a few residents who did not have anything holiday related in their room.  Your little act of kindness can bring joy to a person who may not feel very cheery this time of year.
Yesterday I took snacks to one of the local veteran’s clubs in my area.  They were having a remembrance flag raising for Pearl Harbor Day with sandwiches and chips after the event.  The chips and other snacks I took were well received.  My snacks were used for the later afternoon patrons to enjoy.  It’s always easy to find sales on snacks whether it’s a BOGO or two for certain price sale.  I have actually done snack donations other times of the year to the veterans club.  It’s my way of saying ‘thanks’ to them for their service.  As one myself, I know a ‘thank you for your service’ is always nice to hear.
Until tomorrow enjoy your Sunday.
