FOURTEEN DAYS of VALENTINES.... Day 13

DAY THIRTEEN....Bag or box of conversation candy hearts.

There is just something about those candy hearts that I’ve always enjoyed. As a kid I loved seeing what message would be on the heart.  It was fun to see how many of a certain saying would come in the box I’d always receive.  These days I get them in a bag.  Like the candy corn I must have during the season of Halloween, the conversation hearts is a must for me during February.   Unfortunately there is no reminiscing of Valentine’s Day past.  Although during the last few years I have begun to recall Valentine’s Day’s in my youth. I just have the allotted serving that is recommended on the bag.  As I begin to savor each heart I think about having a box of valentines and writing them to each classmate.  I remember the box that came with different valentines plus one for the teacher.  I would sign my name on the little card; put it inside the envelope and put the classmate’s name on it. I always gave the best ones to classmates I liked most. As I look at what’s available now it surprises me.  I have not seen many with envelopes. What I do is take a small envelope for when I give them out now.
The candy hearts were well received. I found my bag next to my coffee cup this morning.  My husband received a small bag of sour candy hearts.
Later today I’ll open my bag; count out the serving size and enjoy.
A few years I wrote a whimsical piece about conversation hearts.  It was my dedication to those little sugar delights.  It was just something that came to mind as I sat staring at the blank word document opened on the computer and the box of hearts sitting to the side. Over the years I changed one word in my original piece but the message remains the same. All the hearts want is for someone to enjoy eating them.
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day.  So far I’ve received at least thirteen fun gifts; plus on a few days an extra item.
Enjoy today and those candy hearts that seem to bring out the kid in me. If your interested the I checked the calorie count on the back of the bag I have; 12 hearts is 60 calories.

DAY FOURTEEN GIFT IDEA....Card, box of chocolates, one red rose (real or silk), bottle of champagne or wine and lunch or breakfast out in lieu of going out to dinner.
