Today is Veteran’s Day. I want to say to each and every veteran a heartfelt thank you for your service.
My thankful today is for the veterans. They put their civilian life on hold while they left their family and friends to serve our country. Many of these men and women did return; many who returned came home broken in body candy mind. They were no identified as being a sailor, airman, marine, soldier or coast guard but all now a veteran. I ended up doing three acrostics using veteran. I planned to put them into a card to give out, but due to circumstances beyond my control will not be doing so.
Many chain restaurants and other businesses are offering free meals and discounts today. I’ve seen people asking on social media where they can get their freebies today; I got so sick of seeing this and told them to Google it. One person said they expected every restaurant and fast food places to give out free meals. Unfortunately some people are forgetting a lot of eating establishments have been closed at different times due to COVID. A locally owned restaurant can not do this.
I myself am a Veteran. I’m not looking for a free meal or a freebie of any sort. Both my husband and I, as veterans, frequent a business that everyday gives the veterans a 10% food discount on their meal. It’s places like that I return back to as they honor vets all year. I know many who will be going out in force for their free meals and that’s their right. I only hope these individuals that do, frequent the business on occasion. Enough said from my soap box.
Until tomorrow....have a wonderful; thank veteran for their service and as always Stay Safe.

(Veteran’s Day 2020)
Very often we all need to remember
Everyone who proudly served during war
and peace
The men and women who wore a military
uniform
Each year we have only one day of
honoring them
Rights and freedoms for us they fought
And though we don’t each one personally
Needless to say, we thank them today

Veterans Day we recognize all our veterans
Each served during times of peace and war
They all deserve our gratitude and thanks
Everyone served with pride and honor
Respect and admiration give to the veteran
As it was for our freedoms they raised their
right hand
Noble and the brave a grateful nation gives
thanks today

(Veteran’s Day 2020)
Venturing to another chapter of their life
Experiencing new adventures along the
way
They all will be called by a different title
Either soldier, sailor, airman, marine or coast
guard
Returning home all be known as a VETERAN
Admiration and thanks we give them today
Not for the glory did they serve, but for
freedom
A HEARTFELT THANK YOU

(Dedicated time all Veterans on Veterans Day 2014)
They fought, bled and many died
Defending freedom and safety for all
Upon the cold dark seas....
In the sky above....
And on foreign soil
Serving with distinction and honor
Doing their patriotic duty wherever they
went
One day a year we honor those men and women once know as
Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers, Marines and
Coast Guard
Many returned home with body and mental
scars
Then picked up the pieces of the life they
left behind
A new title bestowed upon
them....VETERAN
November 11th a grateful nation remembers their sacrifice......
bravery.....
and courage
A heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’ to all who served,
currently serving and will serve in the future
