Today I am thankful for shelter. That is enough said I’m sure; as there are many homeless who would like to have someplace to call home.
Today’s wacky/weird holidays I did my acrostic challenge on are National Nachos Day and Button Day.
I enjoy nachos so I decided to do an acrostic about it. I added the word DAY to focus on
what drinks would accompany them.
The acrostic about BUTTON is a memory of my step-grandmother, Katie. She had this old round tin full of buttons from items cut into rags. We wore hand-be-downs, or I did. I got mine from my step-sister two years my senior and a step-cousin a year older. I wore my clothes till they did not fit or showed signs of wear and tear. Then we would remove the buttons if they had any and place them in the old tin. The clothes cut into rags for cleaning purposes and these rags were always the last thing washed in the wringer washer. That button box held an assortment of oblong, square, round and sometimes pearl looking buttons.
The sizes varied also. I recall looking for button to replace a lost or broken one. It wasn’t always easy to match either.
I’m not sure if anyone even has a button box these days. We tend not to cut up old clothes but instead take them to a thrift store or put in the trash.
I put a bonus acrostic today. As it’s Friday the day we wear red, I composed an acrostic, RED FRIDAY.
Until tomorrow....have a great Friday and don’t forget to wear your red today; as always Stay Safe.

THANKFUL REFLECTIONS Day 6
Today I am thankful for shelter. I may not have a mansion or a big residence but I do have roof over my head and four walls to protect me from the elements.

(BUTTON DAY 2020 In Memory of My
Step-Grandmother Katie Gredick)
Box or tin of buttons did grandmother own
Unfortunately no one seems to have one
anymore
Those days, old clothes were cut into
cleaning rags
The buttons taken off and put in the box for
reuse
Old buttons mixed together of different
shapes and construction
Now they all seem to be cheap plastic and
configured round

MEAL OR SNACK

Nachos a tasty appetizer or fun weekend
meal
And can be served in various ways
Cheese melted over the top or plain for
dipping
Habanero or jalapeΓ±o peppers, lettuce,
tomato, olives and shredded cheese
Of course ground meat, chicken or beef
cubes can be added
Salsa, guacamole or sour cream dip,
each individual has their preference
Drinking a margarita or two a must indeed
Also a good Sangria would hit the spot
Yet another possibility, a cold Mexican brew
Happy National Nachos Day

RED FRIDAY

Remembering our troops currently deployed
Every Friday we proudly wear our red shirt
Do this each week till they all return home
For our troops let us show our support
Red shirts, red hats or red wristband wear
It can be any red apparel if it need be
Don the red with pride ever Friday
And say a prayer for our all troops
You taking time to do so, is a small gesture
