THANKFUL MONTH....Day Four

Today’s THANKFUL WORD is FRIENDS.

Today is National Candy Day as well as National Easy Bake Oven Day.
I never owned an Easy Bake Oven as a young girl.  They came out when I was twelve and I was considered too old for toys. I’d enjoy having one though.  No doubt they were a tad dangerous if not used correctly as I had friends who had young sisters get hurt using it. With any toy such as this, one needed to be careful.
Lately my acrostics or a few the past few days, do come from true life experiences or as close as one could get.  As for the candy piece, I do enjoy a chocolate and wrote this from a true chocoholic.  Yes it’s candy day which means other candy than chocolate, but I wanted to focus on one type when I did in the first acrostic.  After I finished and did
the, yes, memoir about the Easy Bake Oven I went back to do another candy acrostic.  As I had been timed, but the oven acrostic went fast for me as I researched information prior to beginning my daily writings.  I never knew first off they only came in yellow and turquoise I’d always thought white would have been the color.  I read that it also came years later in an avocado shade like kitchen appliances.
Now as I had the time, I recalled standing at the counter of a ‘mom and pop’ store deciding what penny candy to buy.  Did I want licorice or caramels?  But then I’d see Tootsie Rolls and Mary Janes as well as orange slices and green mint leaves.  I could have spent the dime on a candy bar or two but thought about getting more for the money with penny candy. Those were such fun days gone by.  I’d always get the most for my money with penny candy.
Until next time....have a good day and be thankful for your friends and as always Stay Safe. Now I want a Mary Jane candy!

     🔴THANKFUL REFLECTIONS DAY 4🔴

Today I am thankful for friends.  Those I know now and from over the years.  Those individuals who listened to your woes and sorrows without comment until you finished talking.  Those who stuck by you when you needed a shoulder to cry upon.  They let you vent; but in return you were there for them as well.

Chocolate and more chocolate that’s all I
        need

Add mint, coconut or perhaps a cherry with
       cream and I’ll be satisfied

Nothing like a caramel, almond or raisin
     smothered in chocolate

Decisions on which to pick for my daily
      treat not easy

Yesterday raisins won out, perhaps
       almonds today

Every little girl wanted one
A toy representing a convention oven
Small round cake pans included
Yellow or turquoise the choice of colors

Baking fun for a young girl
As she played ‘house’ with her friends
Kids toy but it could be dangerous
Especially if not used correctly

One item I never owned as a child
Versions changed, but never the concept
Easy Bake Oven to create little cakes
Now I have an adult oven and I don’t bake

Candy for a penny, I could never make up
      my mind

As I stood looking at the many selections
     from licorice to caramels

Not to overlook the orange slices or
    spearmint leaves

Days I spent filling a small paper bag for a
    dime

Yesterdays fond memories I recall time and
         again
