Today is Valentine’s Day. It’s probably my fourth favorite holiday of the year. My favorite holidays (number one a tie definitely) are Halloween and Christmas followed by St. Patrick’s Day my third. I enjoy Easter, but that’s a more solemn holiday; I don’t count it. Patriotic holidays come second on my list; with Thanksgiving fifth.
On Friday, as I mentioned, I celebrated my birthday four days early at my Amvets Post. Not only did I have that as a celebration but I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day by putting out some chocolates around the bar area.
I also had a small gift and Valentine for a few of the bartenders. I had two green heart shaped boxes I filled with chocolate kisses. One I handed to a guy I see there most days I go to the club. He had helped me when I was carrying stuff inside Friday morning for the party. The other the I told the Friday bartender to leave for one of the officers; but not to mention who it was from. I had blank Valentine cards with me so she wrote on the card from ‘your secret admirer’. It definitely a joke as I sort of felt bad for giving the guy a hard time about something recently. Well I did not figure he’d be showing up while I was there. In fact he actually showed up as I was leaving. The bartender handed him the tin heart shape box and card. I said hello and goodbye in one sentence and hurried out the door. I probably figured I would not know the outcome till next week or when I see that bartender again. Unfortunately I received a text message from him to do some Amvets work (I do the Facebook page) and he said he figured out it was me. Oh well. I did get a thank you.
It was quite a fun thing to do. I sort of miss doing these funny little things like this. I sometimes think it makes a person’s day or cheers them up.
I remember once being recipient of unknown gifts. That’s another story for another day; let’s just say THE PURPLE PENGUIN.
Yesterday’s Valentine’s word was CUPID. I wrote an acrostic piece on cupid and another small piece.
I did a piece on Terry’s word of the day LOQUACIOUS. The verse focus on a guy who talks too much (when I wrote it I envisioned the character Cliff from the TV show “Cheers”).
As for my take on the wacky holidays, let’s just say the narrator of the piece was not celebrating all of them.
Today is Valentine’s Day. I hope you remember to get your sweetie a little something. You still can run out to the store today.
Until tomorrow....have a great Sunday and as always Stay Safe.

CUPID
Cute little cherub with arrows and a bow
Usually associated with Valentine’s Day
Prepare yourself, his arrow may pierce you
It could happen anytime and anyplace
Day or night....you never know
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
LOVE WILL HAPPEN
Cupid’s arrow may pierce your heart
When you less expect
So be prepared for the outcome
Love can happen at anytime

THE WINDBAG
He could be loquacious
Long winded at times
Never could say it in a few words
Such a wordy individual
but she did love the windbag
His proposal of marriage more like a
monologue
She decided to ponder his question awhile
Making him wait for an answer

WACKY HOLIDAYS FEBRUARY 13th
(International Condom Day; Wingman Day;
National Tortellini Day and National
Cheddar Day)
No way I’m celebrating the holiday of
condoms
Nor will I be honoring wingman day
But I plan to enjoy cheddar cheese and
crackers for an appetizer
White wine to accompany them
A dinner of tortellini with garlic bread
Perhaps a cannoli for dessert
