NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day One

April has arrived. Today is not only April Fool's Day but also Easter Sunday. It also is the first day of National Poetry Month.  Yes thirty days of celebrating the genre of poetry.
There are many ways to celebrate.  First you can see if your community is sponsoring a poetry reading any place. Go to the reading and listen or even join in with the fun. You need not read your own work but perhaps that of another.  Purchase a new book of poems or find one in a used book store. Read a poem or two each day with your morning coffee.  Take the challenge of writing a poem a day or if your schedule is busy maybe one every other day or one each week during April.  Participate in 'Poem in your Pocket Day' on April 27th. Carry a copy of a poem you like, then pass it on to another to read and enjoy. Tell them they should then pass it along to someone else.
As I stated before each day I'll post a poem I composed for the day. Today's poem is about April.
Enjoy this month dedicated to poetry.
Until next time....have a great day.

April arrives on the coattails of
    March......
 A month filled with many
       interesting possibilities
Each day holds a 'wacky and
        weird' holiday
Each week a few odd and offbeat
      weekly holidays
April has many monthly
      celebrations
It's NATIONAL POETRY MONTH
Thirty days to enjoy reading of
      poems
Listening to poets at a poetry
      night
Composing of your own work

April Fools Day.....Easter Sunday
   Poetry and Creative Mind Day
Celebrated on the first of April
Tricks and gags played on family
     and friends
Hoping they take them in stride
It's a solemn day of celebration....
Easter the Day Christians rejoice
      the risen Lord
Children eagerly hunt for hidden
eggs left by the Easter Bunny
April first our mind will be creative with thoughts of creating a poem
Will we rhyme, write a free style, an ode, a ballad or perhaps a
    limerick
Decisions..... decisions
As we begin a month filled with
     many possibilities
