Every holiday that sells chocolate I seem to buy something. Halloween I purchase chocolate pumpkins; Christmas a chocolate Santa or tree; then comes Valentine's Day where Hershey's Kisses and chocolate wrapped heart shape candy finds its way into my home. Living in Florida all chocolate is placed in the refrigerator. I generally place them in a storage bag so it stays in one place. The other day (after Easter) I saw the bag. Inside I found candy from Halloween as well as Christmas and Valentine's Day. It inspired my poem for the day. Why I wondered do I always end up with extra candy after a holiday? I have no logical answer. It made me wonder if anyone else has left over candy after a particular holiday ends. How long do they keep it before throwing it out? Maybe no one else has left over candy.
Until tomorrow.....think about that.
Enjoy!

Looking through one section of the refrigerator
I see a few items in a storage bag
Odd left overs....I wonder why they are still there
Picking up the bag I scrutinize the contents within
A chocolate pumpkin....
a chocolate Santa.....
a few chocolate kisses
and a chocolate heart
Left candy from holidays past
Next to the bag a few cream
eggs and a chocolate rabbit
With the bag in hand
I walk outside....deposit it
into the garbage receptacle
Will the eggs and rabbit still be sitting in the refrigerator come
Memorial Day?
I ponder the thought....am I the only one with left over chocolates?
