NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day Ten

Again I am writing a poem that comes from my life.  As a veteran I hold membership in a few organizations.  Currently I am head office in one in the local community. This is my second year in this position.  I am hoping someone will step up to take the reigns for the coming year which will begin in June; but it seems no one will. I promised myself I'd do only one more year then what happens will happen as I will not take charge again.  I'll still work for the good of the organization and it's many fine programs. This morning as I prepared to tonight I came up with the following piece.
I wonder how many others in my situation feel the same?
Until tomorrow....enjoy your Tuesday.

Second Tuesday of the month
   Promenade night for the
        veteran's organization which
            I am member
Need to get my act together......
     I run the meeting
An agenda do I type
     Opening ritual......
         Roll Call of officers....
            Last month's minutes to
               be read......
                  Financial report.....
Correspondence received and
         sent.....
    Reports from committee
         Directors....
            Old Business.....
               New Business.....
                 Good of the order....
Closing ceremony.....

I count the days till I can pass the
        gavel.....
Let someone else take the reigns
   Please.....please....please
But then....what would I do the second Tuesday of the month?
   Work on my writing projects?
      Read? Watch television?
Perhaps get a new hobby?
  Perhaps all the above....
Or....go to the meetings to keep abreast on what's happening?
Time will tell....until then....
    it's business as usual every
        second Tuesday
               of the month
