NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day Eight

I woke up few nights ago with the thoughts of today’s piece running around in my brain. I type up the words on notes then went back to sleep.  I finally pieced it all together and dedicated it to a friend. In all our lives people come, people leave; some made an impact on our lives while others caused us sorrow.  I feel we meet people for a reason. So today I decided to celebrate those we met and stayed as part of our life.  The three line thought came from my drive on Lakeview Drive in Sebring, Florida right after sunrise.  The lake glistened and it did resemble to me like a field of diamonds.  The two poets I read today was Langston Hughes; I read him every year.  The other was one I’ve never heard prior, Sophie Hannah.  Like all new poets, or new to me, I found her work interesting.  As you read today’s poem, think about people in your life who made an impact.
Until tomorrow....enjoy your day and the poets you’ll be reading today.

When I feel melancholy and bored
People from my past come to mind
Think about those I could rely upon
And the ones who made me cry

Wonder where they are today
Are they well and doing fine?
Do they ever think of days gone by?
         Do I....ever cross their mind?

There are folks who come into our lives
And for always they will stay
But some are only temporary visitors
Taking you for granted then go away

Each individual we encountered and met
There is a reason that we did so
It could be for something specific
But then perhaps....we will never know

When again you meet someone new
May in your life they remain forever
A friend you can always count upon
On sunny days and in stormy weather
