NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day Twenty-Six

Well today I finished reading poets in alphabetical order.  Today was Lisa Zaran.
I read the  three poems I found available by her. The alphabetical poet reading was educational for me.  I found new poets; new poems and got brief history about those who I read.
The next few remaining days, I’ll pick poets at random to read.
As today is Sunday my three line thought came from my morning prayer.  It’s close to what I said in prayer this morning.  The poem I composed for today, came from bits and pieces of thoughts the past few days.  We had rain on Friday and throughout Friday night into Saturday.  As I laid in bed I thought about how dreary weather always got me down as a kid.  I disliked having to walk to school in the rain, even though I had proper rain gear.  I enjoyed light drizzles for walking, not major downpours.  The past few days I wrote down fragments of stormy weather and sunshine days.  The group The Carpenters had a hit sing “Rainy Days and Mondays”.  I’ve always liked the song and I had recently heard it as instrumental on the music station on the television.  After composing my poem for the day, the song came to mind again.  We’ve all had rainy days in our life that got us into a funk; we’ve had sunny days that cheered us.  The poem is a tragic love poem in my opinion or so that was my intent when I wrote it.
Yes it’s raining as I type up this blog.  Three days in a row.  I need to see some sun today  even though I’m not venturing anywhere except the front yard.
Until tomorrow....think about the rainy days you encountered in your life; did the sunny days outweigh the stormy?

Day 26....THREE LINE THOUGHT

Blessed we are for another day....thank you
        Heavenly Father
For all we have we are grateful....each day is
       your gift to us
Guide us through today and always....AMEN

                 FOUL WEATHER

Sounds of thunder rumble in the distance
streaks of lightning flash across the sky
Standing at the window I peer out as the
    rain showers the earth
       quenching thirsty flowers
         providing parched grass liquid
                refreshment
Another stormy day in my life
   Menacing weather gives me the
          blahs....the blues....the doldrums
Dreariness of the day
    dark gray clouds
        cold chill from the precipitation
           roaring thunder
              lightning flashes
                 gusty winds
bring on the feeling of melancholy Gazing out the window at the raging
    elements my thoughts wander
Stormy days of the past whirl through my
      mind
Turbulent days I once encountered
tumble like tumbleweeds on the prairie
       Rolling....
                rolling....
                   rolling....
                         over....
                            and over....
                              and over
 But........
       each storm that ended......
gave birth to a new sunny day
        turning my languish into joy
Blotting out the blues....deleting the doldrums....eliminating the blahs
Foul weather days of my life
replaced always by sunshiny blue skies
All but one........
the rainy day you said goodbye
