Today’s poet is Danielle Steel. Yes Danielle Steel writes poetry as well as fiction. I’ve read her poetry time and again. In some of her earlier works I recall reading a poem prior to the beginning of the story. It was her poetry that got me into writing poetry on a regular basis. My earliest poems centered around love. I decided to spotlight her poetry today on my daily reminder of it being poetry month. In fact I woke up at 2:00am and opened her book of love poems on my Kindle. With the last few days of poetry month I’ll be spotlighting certain poets daily. I’m already thinking ahead for tomorrow.
I thought about the quarantine after my morning prayers. It seems by staying home I’m not out spending money going to the veteran or fraternal clubs; nor am I going out to my favorite eating places. It seems I really don’t miss it after all.
The poem today is another weather/love related pieces. The narrator of this piece speaks of how a three day rain storm paralleled her heartbreak. I think reading the love poems by Danielle Steel and a few of my earlier poems in my book “JUST WORDS”, got me into the mood for the rain pieces. It’s always a challenge to come up with an idea on what to compose. As I have mentioned prior a few years ago a few of my daily poems came from exactly what was going on in my life. I think this year only a few have come from that perspective; I’ll need to reread my past daily pieces to see if that’s true.
Only two days remain for poetry month. Such a shame as there is so many poets to yet read.
Until tomorrow....have a nice day.
Day 28....THREE LINE THOUGHT
I’m getting use to quarantine days....saves
money
I’m not out uselessly spending on
unnecessary items
But I don’t think popcorn, drinks and an
afternoon at the club unnecessary

The rains came....off and on
on and off....
off and on....
showers three days long
At times torrent....heavy downpours
Crashing thunder....lightning flaring
throughout the sky
The sun struggling to escape black clouds
finally made its break that morning
A new day dawned....one filled with hope
it was a Monday....start of a new week
Another day and week to
embrace life
to let go of the past....to renew
Three days........
three long days........
my tears trickling down my cheeks
like the rains pouring from the
heavens
The sun brightened the skies with its glow
and sun kissed the earth.....
I knew someday....it will do the same for
me
But not today....the first Monday without
you
