NATIONAL POETRY MONTH....Day Seven

Every day I post weird/holidays on my social media page.  Today one of the wacky/weird holidays is National Beer Day.  It seems on April 7, 1933, beer could once again be distributed and brewed, bought and sold in the United States. It was this weird holiday that gave me the idea for today’s poem.  Yes I wrote it in the style of Dr. Seuss, as I’m a fan of his.  A year or so ago I wrote a piece about wine in the same vain.  I just wanted to do something whimsical and fun today. With all that is going on at the moment we need a chuckle or two.
Allan Ginsberg and Bernadette Geyer are the two poets for today.  To be honest I am not a fan of Ginsberg; but many are.  As for Bernadette Geyer, I never heard of her.  I’m finding it educational to read unknown poets.  The site I’m using gives a brief bio on the poets.
My three line thought is about summer.  On a hot summer day, a frosty mug of beer just hits the spot.  (A few of the veterans clubs where I frequent have frosty mugs.  I ask to have my rum and coke served in the frosty mug.)
I’ve used the weird/wacky holiday as inspiration for poems in years past.  I found a poem I composed in 2018 about National Beer Day. I’ve included it for today’s reading.  Enjoy and cheers.
Until tomorrow....inspiration can come from anywhere; you just need to let it come to you.

 Day 7.....THREE LINE THOUGHT

A cold frosty mug of brew hits the spot
Quenching my thirst on a hot summer day
     It’s not yet summer....but I can dream

I will drink beer here
 I will drink beer there
I will drink beer most anywhere
Sitting on a sandy beach
With a shot in my hand of Schnapps that is
        peach
On the glider swing in my backyard
While next to me Sylvia the cat sits guard
In a private club where a member I am
I’ll drink beer with Art, Lisa, Bill and Fran
At a karaoke bar, that is my favorite thing
Mugs of brew I consume gives me
        courage to sing
A longneck bottle from a bin of ice
Quenches my thirst it does suffice
Pale lager, stout, dark, brown ale and porter
       beers
Lift up a cold frosty mug and let us all say
        ‘CHEERS’
I will drink from a bottle, mug, glass or a
       can
Having beers with friends is a wonderful
        plan
I’ll drink beer anywhere during the night or
      the day
Hey.....I enjoy beer......there’s nothing left to
        say

    From a bottle....
       Or a can.......
From the tap served in a
              pint or pilsner glass.....
Or a frosty mug of draft.....
Beer🍻....beer🍻....beer🍻
Low calorie.....some less carbs....
   Dark in color.....or a golden
      yellow.....a pale blonde
Made local from a brewery.....
     A micro-brewery.....
      Domestic brewed in the
               USA....
         Or imported....
Few served with a lime, lemon or a slice of orange
Beer🍺....beer🍺....beer🍺
Everyone has their preference
A cold one on a hot summer day
It's colored green for St. Patrick's
        Day
After thirteen long years
     In nineteen thirty-three
Once again.....all could enjoy
So raise your mug, glass, bottle and can
It's April the seventh.....
         NATIONAL BEER DAY in the
              USA!
