I only was able to locate one X poet for today, Emmanuel Xavier. I read all four of his poems that were available. They were titled: ‘A Simple Poem’, ‘Death of a Poet’,
‘Walking With The Angels’ and ‘Wars and Rumors of Wars’. He is a contemporary poets and his poems reflect contemporary issues. The pieces I read I found very moving indeed. Please read his poems if you get the opportunity. As I’ve mentioned before I enjoy reading new poets and learning about them. Today is Arbor Day and of course it’s Friday. My three line thought reflected the wearing of a red shirt on Friday. Although I’m not venturing anyplace today, I still will don a red shirt. I tease one of my friends about wearing red. She is a member of an honor guard and many times needs to be in uniform on Fridays for funerals or memorial services. She said she couldn’t wear her red shirt so I told her wear red panties. It had become a joke every now and them. Last week after I posted my weekly Friday reminder on wearing red, one of my acquaintances said they were wearing red pajamas since they were not leaving the house. This thought triggered what I thought about this morning. My two poems reflect Arbor Day. The first one I had an idea about planting different type trees. The second came from a fantasy of having a large tree in my backyard. Unfortunately I never had such a tree but I imagined how it would appear different times of the year if I did. Spring brings on new life for the tree. I must admit one thing I miss about living in Florida, the fall when leaves change color. Arbor Day we should think about planting a tree but a bush or shrub will work also; or I feel it does.
Until tomorrow....even if you are not heading out (since we still are on lockdown) you can still Remember Everyone Deployed with wearing something red.
Day 24....THREE LINE THOUGHT
Friday here again....day we don our red
On lockdown I still wear my red shirt
Red pajamas will suffice if staying indoors
all day

Plant an oak tree....
plant an oak tree to help the environment
plant an oak tree so birds can make a
home
plant an oak tree to shade us from the
summer sun
Plant an apple tree....
plant an apple tree for the delicious fruit
plant an apple tree so we can make pies
from the fruit
plant an apple tree for candied apples
and cider in the fall so we
Plant a fir tree....
plant a fir tree in the front yard
plant a fir tree to be decorated at
Christmas
plant a fir tree that shows the beauty of
new fallen snow in winter
Plant an elm tree....
plant an elm tree for the colorful fall
leaves
plant an elm tree to hang a swing upon
the branches
plant an elm tree for the beauty of
drooping cluster of flowers in spring
Doesn’t matter what type of tree you plant
IT’S Arbor Day
Just plant a tree
LEAF LIFE
© Scottie-ann Murphy
Majestically a tree stands in my backyard
Never does it falter season after season
A bird made a nest for a summer home
I built a special get away among the
branches
The bird can fly to and from its home
but I must climb to reach my tree house
In summer leaves are so lush and green
creating an awning of shade
Come autumn the leaves become an array of brilliant hues....red, orange, yellow and burgundy
falling to the ground making a lovely
carpet but only temporary....eventually
it turns to brown
Bare limbs during winter survive the ice,
snow and cold
But come spring buds appear repeating the cycle of leaf life
