It’s Day Four of National Poetry Month. Today my poets were Emily Dickinson and John Dryden. I’ve always been a Dickinson fan and do read her poems each April. I picked Dryden as I really never read him before. Today’s piece I wrote centers around the current events. With most states issuing the ‘stay-at-home’ order I thought I’d concentrate on my thoughts about this. Is this a good idea? My opinion YES. No need to be out and about unless it’s essential. I feel if you’re going stir crazy or have cabin fever, walk outside for awhile. As it’s spring, why not sit outside, if possible, with a book. Perhaps you could journal the experience of what you are going through at the moment. Baseball season should have started; my mind was thinking about it when I came up with my daily thought and poem. I think of being housebound as being safe at home plate. I ran the bases of doing I needed to do (picking up essentials); now I wait for my turn at bat again (when I need to go out again for essential items). Keeping positive thoughts during this crisis is what is best.
I’m finding that I need to compose happier upbeat pieces. We will get through this.
Until tomorrow....keep positive thoughts.
DAY FOUR.....THREE LINE THOUGHT
Like a baseball player......it’s up to you
Don’t strike out......hit a home run
Run the bases......make it safe to home

Another day of ‘stay-at-home’
But....we all must do our part to ensure
safety to everyone during this crisis of
pandemic
No need to be out and about........
unless it’s for essentials
Food.....medicine....appointments at the
doctor....caring for a family member
Housebound are we......now a time to
change up your daily routine
Bring back family time
Sit down dinners eaten around the table
Prayers before meals
Family movie nights.....game nights
Do a hobby together....do craft projects
Read a book....perhaps the Bible
Discuss afterwards what you read
Start journaling your thoughts about the
events unfolding during this period of
uncertainty
Think baseball....
you’re the player.....
up to bat....
the ball pitched....
swing and a hit....
you run the bases....
Umpire shouting “You’re SAFE”
Safe....safe at home
