I am so happy I decided to read poets in alphabetical order. Today I found two whose last name begins with the letter E (fifth day of poetry month; fifth letter in alphabet). I must confess I never heard of these two; Rebecca Elson and Gerald England. Their poems were quite interesting and enjoyable to read. They were free style pieces which I tend to enjoy.
As I read the one by Gerald England I visualized the scene in my mind.
Today my composed poem is upbeat as well as my three line daily thought. They both come from my life. There are three small dogs in my neighborhood. Cutest little fur babies. I hear them barking every now and then which is no problem. I wrote today’s poem about how I see these doggies. The thought is about the cat my neighbor owns (his dog is one of the dogs in the poem). I wanted to do something upbeat and from my life. As I said years ago sometimes my daily challenge poems come from my life sort of like a memoir.
Until tomorrow....although I do not have a dog or cat I’m grateful my neighbor shares his cat and dog with me.
DAY FIVE....THREE LINE THOUGHT
Meow, Meow.....my neighbors cat is in my
side yard
Sprawled on the glider......soaking up the
suns’ rays
I go outside......sit on the step and say
“ Hello”

Bark..Bark..Woof..Woof
Woof...Bark...Woof
Yelp....Yelp....Growl
My neighbors dogs are in harmony
Each does a solo for a few moments
To rest their vocal cords
Then begin again
Yelp..Growl..Woof
Bark...Yelp...Bark
Throughout the day
Into the night
Entertaining me while I try to write
Just background noise
Like the music from satellite TV
Some days it’s only one I hear
Yelping.....barking....woofing
Other days two
Today is a three dog day
harmonizing together into what no doubt
will be
a three dog night
