I am a fan of hyacinths. I love the sweet scent that just filters through the house.
It seems I wrote a poem about them during National Poetry Month in 2012 and again in 2013 that is now in my book published in 2014. For some reason I wrote another poem this year about hyacinths. I think it’s their fragrance that fills the house that gives me ideas to compose these pieces. When they are in bloom I don’t need to use a plug in or air freshener; they are what I said hyacinths are Mother Nature’s air freshener.
Today I read poems by three poets. One poets was Robert Frost, who is known to everyone. My favorite by him is “The Road Not Taken”. I must confess I read this one every year during April. (There are several poems I read yearly.) The other two poets I read were two I’ve never heard about prior; they are Daisy Fried and Annie Finch. I am enjoying reading pieces by those poets I have now found.
Today’s poem and thought centers around hyacinths. In fact I’m going to post the one written in 2012 as a bonus.
If you are reading poets, try reading the unknown ones I’ve mentioned (they were unknown to me).
Until tomorrow....if you like hyacinths TRY to get one. Of course being on lock down only place I’ll find any will be at the grocery store. Sure someone will comment it’s not an essential item for purchase but then people are buying things I don’t feel essential. Having a hyacinth is essential to me to keep me stress free.
Tomorrow I’ll post the other poem about hyacinths after all two is sufficient today.

The scent of hyacinths filters throughout
my home
The purple, white and pink flowers
A symbol of Easter and spring
Their perfumery fragrance....
Mother Nature’s air freshener
I take a deep breath........
Inhale the sweet flowery aroma
I love hyacinths....their smell intoxicating
Unfortunately my allergies have another
opinion
Eyes watering.....nose stuffy
Achoo
Achoo
Achoo
My sneezes come in threes

(National Poetry Month 2012 Day 7)
will soon bloom
A sweet scent will fill the house
with a lovely fragrance
They are yet to open their lovely
buds but I patiently wait
Perhaps tomorrow I will awake to
an aroma that is not coffee
