SUMMER’S HERE....July 7th

It’s been a challenge to do the JULY pieces.  I closed my eyes to get an idea what to come up with for today.  I had just scene a picture of a beach scene so it helped.  I thought about how sea shells can look like confetti on the sand and that some shells jaggered.  I pictured a lone person strolling picking up shells as she walked along the sands; her mind focus on a happy memory.  I’ve used this theme in other writings.  Like my pieces on rain, the beach stroll is something I keep going back to time and again.  The TUESDAY piece was sort of easy in a way. I wrote this first thing this morning.  It rings true about rain and it’s happening at times.  My neighbor thought he’d do the mowing later in day but as soon as he started rains came.  Thus morning I was up earlier than usual and I hear Sandhill cranes.  My other neighbor’s dog was out and barking at them. I looked out the window as I enjoy watching these birds. After I wrote my daily reflection I thought gee I could use sometime in a poem.
I’ve done many pieces about these birds and used them in other pieces I’ve written.
Until tomorrow....today is National Macaroni Day, National Strawberry Sundae Day and Chocolate Day.  Enjoy one of the three food items.

   July 7th....DAILY REFLECTIONS

Sandhill Cranes were saying good
            morning....I heard their trumpeting
as they walk across the street

My neighbor’s dog barks at them....not sure
who is louder....I watched as they
lumbered on their spindly legs headed
               for the empty lot

Just another morning in my
           neighborhood....at least I was awake
and not woken by birds and dog

Jaggered seashells are scattered on the
         white sandy beach like confetti
Under a clear blue July sky I stroll picking
up shells, placing them into a pail
Letting my memories surface of happy
        summer days we spent together
You holding my hand as we walked the
same beach making plans that never
                   came to be

The day begins out sunny BUT it might rain
           in the afternoon....then again not
Umbrella will be needed if I go to do
errands....I should go early in the day
Every afternoon it seems rain forecasted
this time of year....can’t stop it from
               happening
Some days it is a light quick shower other
          times thunderstorms....never know
               what it will be
Daily rainfall normal for Florida in summer
months....just part of the Florida life
Always occurring during the
            mid-afternoon....occasionally early
                evening
 Yesterday’s precipitation waited till early
        evening....interrupting my neighbor’s
                  grass cutting
