SUMMER’S HERE....July 8th

I decided to go back to my childhood for today’s JULY piece. I had a jump rope with red handles. I used it all that year. Jumping and singing jump rope lyrics.  That was a lot of fun.  It was a simpler time definitely.  Owning a jump rope made you feel rich.  Most girls had a piece of clothesline they used.  As I got older I did Double Dutch jump rope.  That was sort of hard to master as well as turning the rope.  But I still enjoyed single jump rope. I wrote the WEDNESDAY piece about wine and time to drink wine. I used the phrase ‘wine o’clock’ for an ad I did for my Amvets post; that and ‘Wine O’Wednesday’.  That gave me the idea to write about this piece.  I am a coffee drinker in the morning then water with either a lemon or lime wedge.  In a way this piece is based on my life in a way; which means it’ll go with the memoir poems.  It’s Wednesday which is trash day in my neighborhood.  With this quarantined going on again, my trash bin goes out more than me.  (Joking of course).  This came to mind this morning as I got up.  Now to get the bin rolled out after I finish typing. Sun hasn’t come up yet so I have time.  Hope you all have good day.
Until tomorrow....it’s blueberry day.  Enjoy!

    July 8....DAILY REFLECTIONS

It’s my garbage day....I need to roll out my trash bin to the curb....I’m going
                out.... hurray

What do I wear....my trash receptacle goes out more than me....it’s not quarantined

At least I’ll see others and say “hello”....my
neighbors will be rolling out their bins
          also....morning neighborhood party
at six feet from one another

Jump rope with red handles I used all
          summer long
Under blue sunny skies I’d jump to a
              jumping rope song
Lyrics I did sing as I jumped and
                     jumped away
Yes it was a simpler time back in my
                     childhood days

Wine o’clock in the afternoon....coffee
          o’clock each morning at eight
Each day it’s a cup of java or two....till wine
         time rolls around
During the in between hours it’s water with
         lemon....sometimes a lime
Nothing like a nice Chardonnay or Merlot....
Sangria, very tasty with slices of fruit
Everyday a different type of wine....red,
            white or rose
Sipping wine to unwind from the
        day....relaxing while listening to soft
                         music
Doesn’t matter if it is a dry, a sweet or a
semi-dry....I enjoy a glass of all
Always at four o’clock wine o’clock
         begins....ending at six
Yet there are occasions wine o’clock
           continues through the evening
