Holiday Word of the Day....CHRISTMAS
CARDS
I remember my mother and step-father coming home from work with the list of company employees to send Christmas cards. It was made like a production line; my mother and stepfather checked which employees to send a card; my step-sister wrote out the addresses on the envelopes; my step-brother put them in the envelope and sealed it; I put on the stamp and Christmas seal. Both parents took turns signing the cards. It was suppose to be an activity to bond us all together. When cards were received my parents would check off who sent a card and if they had not sent one to that person, they would do so.
Christmas cards have not changed over the years with their messages or so I seem to think. Not many send them anymore. We text, send an e-card or send one big message on social media.
My verse today is being used in a card I created; and posting as card on Facebook. The other verse focuses on cards in general.
Today go out and but Santa hats for family members or friends. The hats will get everyone in the holiday spirit.
The food box item is jar of peanut butter.
My toy drive donation actually was different. I had ended up buying grab bags from a local business sponsoring the drive. All monies from the grab bag were going directly to the drive. It was fun to see if there was a good item or a gag. It did matter as I was donating money for a good cause.
I hope you have a great day.
Until tomorrow....you can also purchase elf hat too; and as always Stay Safe.

Part Three of Three Parts
That year with the odd occurrences at the Elks I debated if I were to return the following year. I mean people actually counting the marshmallows in snowman poop: and people nasty because I did not leave them a gift when they weren’t even there. I decided to give the Elks another chance. Why punish everyone for a few nasty folks. The next year my husband came up with a funny idea which was really great. On the reverse side of the tags I put a disclaimer that read:
DISCLAIMER
10 to 12 POOPS PER BAG
Well no one complained that year.
The snowflakes again were give-aways as well as crocheted angles I found and few other resin ornaments.
The idea of the snowflakes were that first year I found something that inspired me. Right after Halloween I was at a local thrift store run by a church. They have a day care and pre-k. My husband and I planned to donate children’s holiday coloring/activity books and needed to know the number of children and whether they’d take the donation. Yes first off they were quite happy for the books and gave me an estimate of children ( I needed count for ordering of course). As I walked through the thrift store I noticed they were putting out items for Christmas and the holidays. That’s when I saw them; the hand crocheted snowflakes sitting in a box. They were now yellow with age but still sturdy. There were six of them with a price tag of fifty cents for them all. I could not pass up that bargain. I thought about the person who could have taken the time to make them and if there was a story there. It was those snowflakes that inspired the one piece I wrote and posted a few days ago.
Now for this bit of shopping information. Another church thrift store had a quite a few never opened or used angel bell decorations (2 in each box). They were selling them for a quarter a box. I ended up buying every one they had which happened to be eight dollars worth. That gave me quite a few different items for my give away. As I have always said thrift stores don’t always have used items, you need to look to see what is there.
I still do the Ms. Claus but I’m low keyed these days. No snowman poop or reindeer poop or coal. Now it’s decorations inside and candy canes.

I compose a verse for my Christmas card
Conveying the right words can be hard
Don’t want to repeat the same old thing
Like Merry Christmas let the jingle bells ring
So for this year I’m just going to say
Merriest of Christmases and Happy
Holidays
Happy and healthy New Year to everyone
Let’s all pray everything is better in 20-21
