FOOD BOX ITEM Day 4....Box of Oatmeal
SPREADING CHEER Day 4...Drop off Christmas cards to nursing home patients
**HOLIDAY WORD of THE DAY....Tinsel
********************************************
The word today is tinsel. I did an acrostic about the item and a verse about a December night using the word once. The idea of using tinsel is up to each person. I’ve used it and not used it over the years. I’m not a fan of it anymore. The verse describes an evening of two lovers enjoying the lighted tree while listening to Christmas music while outside it snows. I think it can make a card verse.
Today the ‘spreading cheer’ is to drop off cards to nursing home patients. That was the reason for purchasing the second box of cards. Write out a card, deliver to the nursing home to distribute to patients. It just might cheer up someone.
Yesterday I sent a funny cartoon via email to an individual to give them a good laugh.
Everyone needs to have a good chuckle now and then.
Today I’m sharing a funny Christmas story.
A few years ago I had made up little 3”x3” cards. The wording as follows:
WINE DON’T MAKE YOU FAT
IT MAKES YOU LEAN
LEAN AGAINST WALLS, DOORS, TABLES
AND REALLY UGLY PEOPLE
At the bottom of the card were a wine bottle and glasses of wine.
We were out shopping that Sunday and stopped at a local drug store chain. There was a display of wine at the store. I went inside my purse and put a few of those funny cards out. My husband and I chuckled hoping it would make someone’s day. We did not think anything about it.
The following day, I found a coupon for that drug chain for twenty-five percent off my purchase. Also the store was having a holiday candy sale that day. I had decided to go back to the store to purchase candy and other items to make up little goodie bags for my book club. As I stood in line at the checkout I overhead a woman asking the cashier if there were any little funny wine cards left. The cashier had no clue what the woman was asking about. The customer explained about the funny wine cards at the wine display the day before. The cashier was clueless and told her they didn’t have any cards there. She then explained yes they were there the day before but now gone. I had to curb my chuckling as she told the cashier what was written on the cards. He said he had not seen them and they must be out of them. She said that she’d be going to one of their other stores to try to find them. The cashier apologized for being out of the cards and hoped she finds them at their other location.
I couldn’t wait to get home to tell Jimmy as I knew he’d get a good laugh.
No I did not tell the cashier that I was the one who left the wine joke cards. I know at least it made some persons day.
Until tomorrow....have a good day and as always Stay Safe.

Tinsel hangs from the branches of the tree
Imitation icicles made of shiny tin foil
No to tinsel or yes to use, your decision
Some overdo the draping on the branches
Every one has their way of how to decorate
Lights put on first, tinsel last when I use it

SILENTLY SNOWING

Tinsel hanging on the fake Christmas tree
Reminding me of icicles on the evergreen
outside my windows
Garland of silver shimmers with the
twinkling lights
A star shines bright from the tree top
The only illumination in the living room
as we sit on the couch
Talking about everything and nothing
special
We sip warm mulled wine while in the
background Christmas music plays from
the stereo
An enjoyable December evening together
as outside snow falls silently
