SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER....Day 6

FOOD BOX DAY 6....2 Cans mixed

        vegetables

SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER
DAY 6....Leave a ‘thank you’ or ‘holiday’
card for your mail carrier if possible

HOLIDAY WORD of THE DAY....SANTA
      and/or ELVES
********************************************
So how is the food box faring up today?  It’s mixed vegetables days.
Today leave a note/thank you or holiday card for your mail carrier (if possible) as perhaps you do not have one. Then tweak today’s ‘spreading cheer’ somehow. I’ve done that in the past.  Instead of the mail carrier I’ve actually given the card to my mechanic or hair dresser.  Just remember someone who does a service for you.
Today is SANTA’S LIST DAY as a wacky/weird holiday. The Christmas Word for the day is SANTA and/or ELF/ELVES.  I did a special verse for my two youngest grandchildren. I made an e-card and sent by text to them.  I did SANTA and ELVES as two acrostic pieces.  Both reflect the holidays and how things are.
Yesterday I was a sort of secret Santa
my neighbor; unfortunately he caught me as I was leaving the gift.  That’s okay, at least I know he got it and no package thieves did.
I am trying to keep track of my deliveries coming to me.  I have three yet to come.  Two I need ASAP as they are for others.
Today begins Part One of a Three Part memory.
Reflections are good every now and them.  For me they make me appreciate what I have.
Until tomorrow....enjoy your Friday and as always Stay Safe.

 Part 1 of 3 Parts

The same Christmas my mother married my step-father things sure did happen and not all good.
Back then twenty dollars went along way. Dee, Jay and I were given that amount each for Christmas shopping.  We were to purchase gifts for everyone in the household; that meant my mother, step-father, step-grandma Katie, step-step-grandfather Anthony/Tony and each of my step-siblings. If you add it up we had to buy six gifts in all.  I needed to purchase a grab bag gift for the class party at school plus a teacher gift but my mother said she’d take care of that.
We went to the local Five and Dime to shop. My mother went off to pick out the grab bag gift (girls gift) and the teacher gift. The three of us went our way to shop for those on our list.  Although my step-siblings and I were not actually best buds, I knew I needed to pick a gift for each that showed I was making an effort to merge as a family.  My mother was worried I’d not understand the amount I was spending, but l kept a running total in my head. It was a simple method for me; round everything up to the nearest dime ( $3.46 cents became $3.50; $2.21 became $2.30).  Easy to do.  My first purchase was for my mother.  As she dressed each day for work, I saw a scarf and pin/broach set I was sure she’d like.  Second gift I found was a tie and tie tack for my step-father in the color blue. Although he did not wear a tie to work, I thought he’d have one for when he did dress up.  I found an apron with purple flowers for Grandmother Katie as purple I learned was her favorite color.  For step-step grandfather Anthony I saw white handkerchiefs with the letter “A” engraved on them. My next task was to then get gifts for Dee and Jay.  Jay liked playing with toy soldiers and I got him a tank and jeep that would go with his army men.  Dee was one who like jewelry.  A few days prior to the shopping trip I overheard her and her friend talking about pop it beads.
(If you are wondering about pop it beads, Google ‘pop beads’ or pop it beads’)
I decided to get her a bag of white and a bag of pink so she could connect them for different looks.
All in all I was excited about my gifts and still had money left over.  Approaching the cashier I could see my mother hovering close by in case I did not calculate correctly.   She and the cashier seemed impressed I was in range of what I totaled the cost to be (after all I rounded up the price of each item).
I felt oh so grown up as I handed over my money to the cashier.
The next task would be to wrap everything at home.
Dee and Jay seemed to be lagging in the store and it struck me as odd they shopped together; after all they were suppose to buy each other a gift but perhaps they picked out what they wanted from one another.  They could be strange at times.
THIS IS PART ONE of a THREE PART Memory.

                (For Raygen and Colten)

He’s checking his long list of names not only
    once but twice
Who will he find naughty and who will he
      find nice
Looking over the list, Santa takes himself a
        pause
Receiving help from the Elves and from Mrs.
       Claus
Santa discusses with them, the names of
       every girl and boy
Trying to decide what for each, would be the
       perfect toy
He reads all their letters, every request he
     does hear
Finally makes his big decision, everyone has
     been very good this year

As we keep watch toward the sky on
      Christmas Eve
Nestled inside we are comfy and warm
The stockings are hang on the mantle
And Santa’s cookies and milk await him

Early Christmas morn we awake and hurry
     to find what Santa brought
Look to see if he drank the milk and ate the
      cookies, we left for him
Viewing the presents under the tree, we
scurry to find ones with our name
Every year it’s the same, mine have a green
      bow
Sister’s gifts have a bow of red, a Merry
     Christmas to all
