It’s the final day of 2020! Good riddance to this year and prayers that next year will be better. This is my final blog for the year. Tomorrow I begin again; a new year and new goals.
Generally I’d do a poem about the end of the year, but I have not as of yet. Doesn’t mean later today I won’t though.
As I again think of goals I did not see through I wonder if I need to make short term intentions as I previously mentioned. I’m thinking by making one new goal each first of the month, you may find it easier to keep. Perhaps on January first you decide to go on a diet; sticking to only one goal for thirty-one days would perhaps be good as by February first you’ll hopefully already be sticking to that diet goal and it is now routine. So on February first you decide on something else; by March first that should be routine. Now I’m not telling you how to run your life but a suggestion. I’m going to try this; will let you know by February first how my first goal fares out. I’m not making my goals public at this time, but do have my first ready to begin tomorrow.
Today is National Champagne Day and today’s holiday word. Actually it was pulled out of the word pile previously but the word puller told me he put it aside for today. Not sure if he’ll be doing this task again for me as I’d love to have done something previously with this word but today is fine I guess. I was curious on why ships are christened with a bottle of the bubbly. Found out suppose to be lucky. Now is the bottle a cheap bottle for under twenty dollars or more expensive? Now this triggered a funny memory of a boat and champagne.
My first husband and his two friends went together to buy an inflatable boat. All I remember is them buying a cheap bottle of champagne to christen it. Of course they could not hit the side so they popped the plastic cork and poured the contents over the boat. I can’t recall the name they called the boat but I think it was something like the Minnow Titanic (of course after the great ship and the boat from the tv show “Gilligan’s Island) but I laughed so hard about the christening. Funny they even kept the champagne chilled in a cooler which I found dumb as they weren’t going to drink it.
So as I read ships are christened for luck then I thought maybe that’s why we do a toast with champagne for the new year. If so, let’s hope we all drink enough to rid us of 2020 and hope 2021 will be a better year.
I did the TOASTING CHOICES on what the narrator might consider a better drink to welcome the new year.
So to each and everyone one of you I wish you a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year; thank you for reading ‘Ramblings’ this year. Look for more ‘Ramblings’ in the new year.
I usually say until tomorrow.......but...........
Until next year....if venturing out to celebrate please be careful and enjoy; and as always Stay Safe.

LUCKY BEVERAGE....MAYBE
A sparkling bubbly expensive wine
synonymous with the rich
Considered a luxury beverage
Mostly associated with celebrations
Engagements, weddings, New Year’s Eve
Ships christened with a bottle of the bubbly
for good luck
Perhaps that’s why it is a beverage for
toasting the new year
If so we need lots of champagne to ring in
2021

TOASTING CHOICES
Champagne costs too much
Gives my poor head a rush
When I indulge in a glass or two
Give me a shot and a beer
So I can then cheer
The end of this year and start of the new
Keep your bubbly sparkling wine
I’ll be just fine
With a glass of Chardonnay or Chablis
To me it doesn’t matter
In fact I would rather
Toast the new year with a Long Island Ice
Tea
