Its 3:00am ‘Hello Everyone’. I took a mental health day yesterday. I actually stayed home. I can not visit my husband in rehab until after he’s been there 48 hours. So there was no reason for me to have ventured out. Hopefully by Thursday I’ll be able to visit.
This month I gave myself a challenge beginning yesterday with writings using words I found representing St. Patrick’s Day.
Yesterday the word was LUCK. It’s just luck this one I picked out of the mix. The acrostic focused on how the saying goes about card luck and love luck. I thought it whimsical when I wrote it. The second piece focuses on a guy with a rabbits foot. Both pieces in fact are comical.
Terry’s vocabulary word was FIASCO. Now that was a quick in my head piece. It seems I’m bringing my February people into March.
I’ve thought about this word of fiasco and realized I’ve used it any times.
The wacky holidays I thought a challenge as they did bit not seem to fit together but that’s the fun of writing about them.
As it’s Women’s History Month, I think about how far women have come even from the time I was growing up. When I went into the army, women were not put in combat zones as now. If in the navy the females were not stationed aboard ship either. It’s so changed now. I don’t remember seeing a woman bus driver or truck driver. Funny I have no idea when I saw my first female trucker; but I remember the first female bus driver I saw. She drove for the local transit company in the county I lived. I knew her. I was stunned she drove the bus as she was a really gorgeous looking female. You’d have thought her a cosmetics salesperson in the department store. That’s just stereotyping now I’m sure.
When I first got out of the military and signed up for employment services at the local unemployment office (now called job centers) I had an issue as I was entitled to see the veterans rep. They told me no I have to be a veteran to see that person. I said well I am. It was hard to explain to some dumb men yes women are veterans too. It wasn’t until around 2007 one veterans organization finally opened membership to the female veterans. Yes we finally filtrated the old boys club (as I called it back when my husband joined). As a woman I was the first female Post Commander of the American Legion Post where I held membership. I learned recently they finally have their second female commander of that post. It took it seems over thirty years for another woman to be in that position. I recall an old ad for cigarettes geared to woman. Their slogan
“You’ve come a long way baby”. Yes we have.
Until tomorrow....have a happy hump day and as always Stay Safe.

LUCK
Lucky in cards....but not in love
Unfortunately some have no luck in either
Could be they are a total loser
Kind of relates to a few people I know

TALISMAN
He carried the rabbits foot on a key ring
It was his talisman or so he thought
Had it the night he met her
Unfortunately it did not bring much luck
lately
She appeared disinterested
only saw him as friend material
then the rabbits foot
wasn’t lucky for the rabbit

IRISH LUCK
She felt her life a fiasco
at least her love life
Work life doing well
not any issues there
Family and friends a good support system
But when it came to affairs of the heart
a complete failure
She believed the old saying by Emily
Dickinson
about the heart wanting what it wanted
also from the same quote she did not care
Perhaps March would be her lucky month
After all St. Patrick’s Day celebrated
in March
and she was Irish
