I can’t believe I actually slept till seven. Of course now I’m up and writing this to get posted by the time I have to leave for my visit with my husband.
Yesterday I was able to celebrate Women Veterans Day by buying a drink for the newest female veteran at my Amvets post. She’s a Marine; our first female Marine. Now we need a female Coast Guard and all branches are represented by women. Of course we do have two WACS, a WAF and a WAVE before they became regular military.
It was a rainy afternoon yesterday. I ended up doing a rainy day piece. The rain was much needed though.
I’ve come to the conclusion it’ll be awhile till I ever can sleep in again. Just one day I can sleep till nine it would be great. Oh well that’s wishful thinking.
I can believe the toy yesterday was BUTTON and STRING TOY. I never really heard of it as I never had one. Looking at it, I’d think it more of a cat toy. I can see playing with a cat using that item.
I need to get ready to leave by nine. Still need breakfast and few other things done.
It’s Sunday so make the best of the day.
Until tomorrow….take care and as always Stay Safe.

RAINY DAY MEMORIES
Listening to the rain my mind wanders
Memories of rainy days gone by
Our Saturday afternoon picnic
interrupted by a sudden storm
We take shelter in the cottage at the
lake
Sitting close together on the faded
green sofa
we sip wine
listening to music on the old
cassette player
The crooning of Frank Sinatra
penetrates through the cottage
Silence between us as the rain outside
hits the windows and the roof
Music and rain the only sounds we hear
As I try to think of how to tell you
how I feel

NEVER NEVER NEVER
A toy I never knew existed
Never had seen one
Never owned one
No idea how to even play
with a button and string toy
Seeing it....I’d think it something to
amuse the cat

WACKY HOLIDAYS JUNE 13th
(Women Veterans Day; National Red
Rose Day; National Peanut Butter
Cookie Day and World Gin Day)
A virtual red rose I sent to my friend
an ex-WAC
It’s Women Veterans Day
I’ll think I’ll celebrate with a gin and
tonic at the club
Perhaps buy a drink for the other
female veterans who may be there
I could take a container of peanut
butter cookies to share also
