Whew I spent a lot of time with my husband yesterday. I needed to see just what was going on with him. He still has no appetite and I’m worried about depression. Then I may be just freaking out too. I know one of the meds he’s on right now causes nausea so it could be why no appetite. Of course since his stroke he’s lost sense of taste (no it’s not COVID) he’s been tested a few times. Prayers and more prayers are all I can say right now. If anyone is getting depressed it’s not him but me. It’s hard not to show tears at times. I think I’ve said enough right now. Don’t want to get anyone down.
Ok my daily observation is from yesterday. After I visited my husband, I went to play bar poker to support the club for awhile. It’s all in fun of course.
Again it happened as soon as one of our members leaves to step outside I win. Generally he leaves for the day but he stayed to play yesterday; but went outside to take phone calls. Both times he did I’d win. Now is it a coincidence or just luck? Who knows! But myself and now another person have begun to tease the guy about leaving the building. Of course this individual loves the attention anyhow.
HORSESHOES was the word for yesterday. As a kid I always thought it an old man’s game or form of recreation. I never tried to throw them. In my adult community pre-covid times there was a horseshoe game on Fridays. They had teams who competed. The gentleman and yes ladies too took this all to heart. I believe that at the end of the season (snowbird season) there were actual awards given. These days people seem to toss bean bags calling it CORNHOLE. This has become popular as a fundraising tournament as well as just recreational. At a few veterans clubs have a WASHERS TOSS game. It’s throwing little metal washers into a plastic tube. To learn more you can Google this game. It seems like fun but I’ve never played. Perhaps one day I will try.
It’s Hump Day today. The week is almost to an end.
Until tomorrow….have a great day and as always Stay Safe.

DAILY OBSERVATION
Needing to unwind after a hectic day
visiting my husband
I go to play bar poker at the club
Winning two hands felt great
Yes my lucky/unlucky charm walked
outside right before the first win
Now I owe him a drink

PLAY TIME
Horseshoes always seemed like a
game for older men
A way to pass time during their
retirement years….a relaxing easy
activity
But as I watched the games in the
common area of my community
I realize it’s quite competitive
