JUST JUNE….Day 17

I really needed to go out yesterday for a few drinks and be with people.  Old man sun hid behind the clouds as rain made itself known. I did not want to drive the 10 minutes to the Amvets.  I stayed home with my imaginary friend.
We enjoyed Crown Royal Vanilla shots and a brew.
I did have a good meal which stuffed me.  One half of a six inch Philly cheese steak and a 3/4 order of bacon wrapped chicken bites.  The salad ended up in the fridge for today.  Of course there is still half sub and chicken bites left.  I hate cooking for one.
When I was about ten years old I remember the commercial for the SLINKY.  I recall the jingle for the commercials.  My parents never got one for my step-siblings or me.  I finally found one in a dollar store in my forties.  Loved it.  It of course was plastic and in rainbow colors.  I put it on the top step in the house and it went down the stairs.  It was indeed a childhood fantasy come true. I have no idea what become of that slinky, but I think I gave it to my grandson Michael or his brother Sean.
I had no idea after my research that the item came out in the 1940’s.  Wow.
I did enjoy the jingle though.
These words each day for June sure brings back memories of my childhood.   Some are good memories but others are not.  No doubt that is how things go though.
It’s Friday Eve today. This week just went quickly.
Until tomorrow….have a great day and as always Stay Safe.

I wanted one….it looked fun
The jingle plays in my head when I see
    it
But it took till I was in my forties to
    own the toy
It wasn’t metal like the original….but
   plastic and rainbow colored
Still it walked down the stairs
in the house on Madison Street
Slinky the toy I waited to own for
  over thirty years

    WACKY HOLIDAYS JUNE 16th
(National Fudge Day; Fresh Veggies
  Day; Ladies Day (Baseball) and
   International Waterfall Day)

I guess I won’t see a ball game in
person but will watch on TV
while I eat a piece or two of fudge
Of course I see a miniature veggie plate
    before the fudge
Somewhere someone is at a waterfall
  today….not me
