DOG DAYS of SUMMER....August 21st

I woke up at 2:00am and this verse popped into my head about POETS Day.  Of course I typed it up then fell back to sleep half hour later. Today is POETS Day.  I wonder why it’s not celebrated in April when it’s National Poetry Month, but it’s fine to have another day to celebrate it.  Of course I’ve seen other things about it meaning it’s a day to goof off since tomorrow is Saturday but I’m thinking no it’s a day for us poets.
I ended up doing acrostic pieces today.  The AUGUST one is a romantic piece; beach walking a favorite theme of mine.
Today’s reflections are funny as I think I’m not a people person after yesterday.  I did not see Barney the dog and asked the owner about him.  I guess I could have asked about how he and his wife were doing but did not. Does that make me bad, antisocial or just uncaring? I’m not sure which.
It’s Friday and day we wear our Red shirts to Remember Everyone Deployed.
Until tomorrow....happy Friday and as always Stay Safe.

August 21st....DAILY REFLECTIONS

Waiting to see the sunrise....perhaps it’s
going to be overcast again today....my
TO DO LIST for today is complete

I realized yesterday I’m not a people person
anymore....said hello to my neighbor then
asked how Barney his dog was as I did
not see it....cared more about how dog
was than him or his wife

One of my piggy banks fell yesterday....it’s
making me wonder why....is it a sign I
      should not be hoarding coins....which
I’m not....piggy bank felt lightweight it
           needs fatten up

A wonderful day together our yesterday

Under a cloudless blue sky we strolled
    along the beach

Glad and content as we collect sea shells
       and glass

Until the rain showers began, spoiling our
    fun

Scurrying towards shelter, we stopped at a
   beach bar

Till the showers passed, we sipped a few
Mai Tais while talking about our future

A holiday for those who rhyme, free verse, haiku, ballad, ode, sonnet, acrostic  and limerick

Poetry a lost genre in literature it seems at
    times

Often placed on the back burner of reading
    materials

Every poet is a creative artistic individual

Taking liberty with words, writing styles and
     themes

Staying true always to their craft
composing poems to be read and
       enjoyed

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

POETS Day comes not during National
     Poetry Month

Of course I wonder why it’s observed in
    August not April

 Every poet will celebrate today,
perhaps with a new verse or two

Today give tribute to those who enrich
    our lives with their words

Short verse works, long verses, the poet
will compose when the mood strikes

Deep thoughts, whimsical ideas, some
never sure what will appear till it’s written

A poet creates from their heart, mind and
    soul

You never know what may inspire the poet
    or kick start their creativity

Today is our day to be recognized
        It’s POETS DAY
Listed as as weird and wacky holiday
              I THINK NOT
Let’s just call it an obscure holiday
                     That’s yet to be discovered
