Fireworks went from eight last night to midnight. It seems this year I heard more than usual in my neighborhood. Of course celebrating the reason for the fourth is one reason for shooting off fireworks, but also last year on July fourth we were on lockdown. Parties and events many would’ve attended were canceled. This year being able to be among family and friends to enjoy the fourth was another reason for fireworks. I had no issues and could see out my window aerial displays of color.
I am so grateful for people thinking of me during this period of uncertainty about my husband. Yesterday I did not attend the flag raising ceremony at the Amvets as I was seeing my husband. I came home then went over to the club. I found since I missed my having my typical July fourth food (hot dog being one); a few people got together to make me a TOGO box with hot dogs, buns, hot dog sauce and few other things. I did not need all the hotdogs packed for me, I repacked my box with only two. I had tears in my eyes at the thought of someone thinking of me.
My daily thoughts centered on the boats I noticed on Lake Jackson. I wondered if people were fishing, just cruising the lake or waiting for the fireworks to begin. It was great to see people out enjoying this holiday; especially after July fourth last year.
The cartoon word yesterday was BETTY BOOP. That’s one of my favorite cartoons. I think it was a bit risqué for it’s time. Betty Boop merchandise is still sold today. People use memes with her on social media for their ‘good morning’ greetings. I used a few of the Betty Boop memes for July fourth greetings.
Today many are still off work to celebrate the holiday. The last day of a three day holiday. I hope you make the most of it.
