Short Read
I always enjoy visualizing in my mind a haunted house. Today’s word challenge HAUNTED HOUSE. Somehow I pictured in my mind two individuals walking towards an old deserted house; I like Victorian houses for being the model of a haunted house. Once a year the house comes to life and strange things happen. The two individuals I have as eleven year olds who snuck out to watch the happenings until the crow of the rooster. I’ve done other haunted house free style pieces as it’s a favorite subject. Being scared was always a part of the Halloween experience as a kid especially movies. I’m a fan of the old black and white movies from the 40’s and 50’s.
Today is Sunday and I hope you have a wonderful day.
Until tomorrow....as always Stay Safe.

WITCHING HOUR EVENT
© Scottie-ann Murphy
Along the cracked sidewalk slowly we
saunter
Wind blowing leaves, twigs and debris
around our feet
The moon casts eerie shadows on the
ground
They appear to dance along the walkway
that leads to the old white Victorian
mansion
It’s the residences of the ghosts, spirits and
goblins
Once a year the house comes alive on the
night of Halloween
Bats fly from the attic, ghosts float in and
out the windows
On her broomstick a witch flys overhead
a black cat sits by her side
In the back yard she lands near the
cauldron of brew
where the witches are gathered
They the cackle into night while stirring the
cast iron pot
A band of zombie musicians play a lively
tune
Vampires, monsters, ghouls and mummies
dance
A werewolf howls to the music
an owl hoots in harmony
We approach the house it is the witching
hour
A dark menacing creature beckons us
inside
Firmly we remain on the sidewalk
Watching and listening the strangeness
occurring inside and out
Till the rooster crows at dawn
