Today’s FALL/HALLOWEEN word APPLE CIDER LATTE. I wondered how I wanted to work the word. I decided to go with a continuing flash fiction with Madison. In the last flash fiction she had an assignment to do a story about fall flavored beverages and food; she had hoped to switch assignments with her sister-in-law but did not. I just started typing up this piece not sure how to come to the conclusion and then it just came to me. I enjoyed doing this story as I decided as a reporter Madison had to be objective in what she wrote. She always presents the truth in her stories even when she felt slighted as at the coffee shop.
I am a fan this season of apple cider flavored beverages. Although I have not tried an apple spice cider latte as of yet.
Today is Monday and it’s the start of a new week. It’s also Columbus Day and National Gumbo Day.
Hope your week will go well.
Until next time....as always Stay Safe.
WORK ISSUES

The server placed the steaming cups of apple cider latte on the table along with the plate of apple cider donuts and pumpkin spice muffins. Austin’s mouth watered at the sight of the delectable looking pastries. Madison glared at him as he picked up the latte; he looked at the artistic design of the pumpkin the barista created. He looked over to the latte in front of Madison; she had a witch design created on her drink. No wonder she’s giving me the stink eye,” he thought. It was not his fault the barista done a witch in her drink. Nor was it his fault she talked him into coming with her to Brews Brothers, the new coffee shop in the area. Actually it wasn’t new, but the place had new proprietors and a new name. The previous owners of the coffee shop sold their business and moved to sunny Florida in August. This was Brews Brothers first fall season in business; as well as the first time the newspaper would be mentioning the business in a story. Austin thought that the workers would go out of their way to make certain nothing went astray with Madison’s visit. So he was surprised to see the witch art on her drink. Austin decided he’d accompany her on this outing as she made notes for the article she was doing on seasonal food and beverage. She did not think this would be that bad of a story despite the owners of the business. She tried to switch assignments with Lisa but it did not happen. Lisa used the excuse going to the bar/pub would be a much needed date night away from the kids. It wasn’t often her brother, Brandon, and her sister-in-law got out without their four year old twins. Madison put on her big girl panties, put her on game face and went into her reporter mode. That was one thing Austin admired about her, she did not let anything sway her from her mission. Madison meet adversity with no qualms. The reason he decided to accompany her on this job was he wanted to show her that he supported her endeavors.
As Madison sat staring at the latte she took a deep breath, then with her camera snapped a few pictures of the drink to accompany her story.
She took a sip of the latte; standing up she grabbed the cup. Austin wondered what could be happening. Madison walked over to the barista; she handed him the cup.
“This doesn’t taste right”, she said in a firm tone. “Could you make another please? I’d appreciate it.”
The barista took the cup Madison handed him.
“Yes of course I’ll remake your latte,” he said to her.
Smiling sweetly Madison looked the barista in the eye.
“Thank you so much,” her voice dripping like honey, “and this time how about a ghost or skeleton design okay. I didn’t appreciate the artistic design in the previous cup; it wasn’t professional of you putting a caricature of your boss’s daughter in my apple cider latte.”
