HALLOWEEN....Day Fourteen

Today’s reading is going to be short.

SCARECROW is today’s word.  There are many who associate a scarecrow with just fall and Halloween, but actually they are a spring thing as well.  The scarecrow is put out to distract birds from the newly seeded fields.  They are distract from the same birds going after the crops.  I’ve been one of those who associated them with just part of fall decor but realized one day during the summer there is a National Build a Scarecrow Day.  I wrote this piece as an acrostic describing the scarecrow as a soldier and guard of crops.
When I see a scarecrow I always think of the “Wizard of Oz” for some reason.  I like how some use pumpkins and decorate them like scarecrow.   My one favorite picture of scarecrow and pumpkin is how the scarecrow seems to be mooning you with the pumpkin as it’s butt.  The other is a female scarecrow with pumpkins for breasts.  Seems as if scarecrows are not just for cornfields these days.
Today is Hump Day....enjoy your Wednesday.
Until next time as always Stay Safe.

Standing alone in the farmers field no one
     else near by

Clothes he wears are patched hand me
       down discards

All through the growing season working day
    and night

Rain, sun and torrent weather does not
      deter him from his job

Erect he stands like a centennial in the open
   field

Cornfield solider protecting the farmers
    crops from harm

Recently cast seeds in spring begins his
       tour of duty

Only when the last crop harvested will his
        job be done

Winter season he will find rest until the
          spring
