Hello! It the first day of October or Day One of Halloween! Tonight we’ll see a full moon. How great is that to start off the month? Also there is one on the last day of the month. How great is that to end the month? The full moon craziness began on Tuesday and continued yesterday. It wasn’t the traffic yesterday as much as the weirdest people at the Ollie’s store. Let’s just say they entertained my husband and I.
My husband, as I said, is giving me a different word each day that reflects Halloween or the autumn season. Today he gave me two words for an acrostic; FULL MOON and APPLE CIDER. I had fifteen minutes for the first word and same amount for second one. I thought about what a full moon night is like; eerie shadows on the ground and strange distant sounds. I always liked a full moon night. As a kid I’d think of the full moon as a flash light from the heavens to light the way. In a way I still think of it the same.
Apple Cider to me is considered the beverage of fall and Halloween. I’ve recently had it with a shot of cinnamon whiskey; quite tasty. I’m not really a fan if it being warmed though. I remember in my younger days after a hayride there’d be apple cider and donuts. Sometimes we had a choice of having apple pie or pumpkin cookies. The last hayride I had been, afterwards we had pumpkin ice cream. It was the first time I had it and I must say really enjoyed it. Now I need to find some.
I reflected about my experience yesterday at the Ollie’s store. It was not busy which I found strange; they did have a sign to ask customers to be masked. I’m thinking it’s up to each business to require mask wearing. I’m just going with the flow and find it a way of life right now.
With Halloween month beginning today I’m wearing the black and orange colors. Personally I like those shades together all year. I’ve taken out my pumpkin beret and sporting my spider bracelet which could be used as a weapon if need be. Let me say if someone tried to harm me when wearing it the bracelet could be jabbed into them. Perhaps not lethally but enough to hurt. I was surprised to find it actually found this years ago. I’m sure if I’d go through metal detector I’d set it off.
Would you believe it’s now International Coffee Day today? Yes how funny as National Coffee Day was on September 29th. No problem I can celebrate coffee anytime.
Until tomorrow....be aware October is AGENT ORANGE AWARENESS Month; and as always Stay Safe.

October 1st....DAILY REFLECTIONS
A new month begins today....tonight is a full moon....I could tell it had to be coming....crazy drivers Tuesday....strange people shopping yesterday
I thought about yesterday this morning and I now realize that odd balls are not found in just the local Walmart....Ollie’s has them also....both hubby and I were highly entertained yesterday at Ollie’s....the store could have sold tickets and popcorn for this
Let me just say this couple had us laughing so hard, I almost peed my pants....their two carts were packed to the top with clothing
items and not sure what else ...they must have been buying for everyone they know or maybe early Christmas shopping....when her husband told her she had enough stuff she told him to F*#¥off....and she kept on throwing stuff in the cart....as he continued to tell her she had enough, she’d tell him F*#¥off....it went on and on throughout the store

FULL MOON

Frosty and chilly is the October evening
Under a starry sky trees sway in the breeze
Light from the moon shines bright casting
eerie shadows
Like a heavenly beacon is the orb of night
My woolen sweater I wear to keep warm
Outdoors I venture to clear my mind from
the days problems
Off in the distance the piercing sound of a
howling dog is heard
Nights with a full moon my favorite time for
an evening stroll

APPLE CIDER SEASONAL BEVERAGE
© Scottie-ann Murphy
A tart and refreshing autumn thirst
quencher
Perhaps served with an apple cider donut
for a snack
Pumpkin pie or apple crisp would be tasty
also
Like drinking it best when warmed on a
chilly fall evening with a cinnamon stick
Enjoyable having it cold, poured over ice
with a whiskey shot
Cider a wonderful fall beverage for old and
young
It is the seasonal drink of the fall and
Halloween
Donuts and apple cider no other treat
compares during October
Even through November I’ll continue to
enjoy a glass or two
Right after Thanksgiving, it’ll be time to
switch to egg nog
