It’s Monday again. Today’s HALLOWEEN word WITCH/WITCHES.
Years ago I did a flash fiction about a person named Clarisse. It was a character I used in a writing prompt. It ended up as a Halloween flash fiction. I posted the story years ago in a blog. I may do so again do you can read it.
I used the Clarisse as the main character in my flash fiction for today. I like her during October. She’s a fun person. She is a different type character of course than Madison. In fact I see Clarisse coming more this month. The piece I did this time had Clarisse again going out for the evening to a club. Her favorite band again is playing but as she takes a sip of her drink wonders about driving home. It’s a whimsical flash fiction but does make you think.
The first piece focuses on a person wondering about seeing witches each weekend during the fall. The narrator keeps wondering about them. This too was fun to do and of course it was timed as most of the pieces are this month.
Today I reflected on what the big complaints will be for the week. People aren’t happy unless the complain about something.
I hope everyone has a good day and good week ahead. Enjoy the story.
Until tomorrow....thank the Lord for this day and as always Stay Safe.

October 5th....DAILY REFLECTIONS
It’s Monday....a new week begins....so what will everyone be offended by this week
What will everyone be complaining about....what will the big issues be for everyone....don’t care....some people aren’t happy unless they’re complaining
Time to do my ‘TO DO’ list for today....first thing on it....thank the Lord for another day

CURIOUSLY WONDERING

night
I keep watching as they zoom past me,
until they’re out of sight
What in the world is happening, I see this
every weekend in the fall
Are they headed to a witches convention,
or some type of a Halloween ball
What are they up to, oh my mind always
does wonder
Are they someplace concocting a witches
brew in a cast iron cauldron
It’s the same old questions that I keep
asking myself each year
Guess I’ll do what I always do, ponder and
sip on some Halloween cheer
Someday I plan to ask them, then I will
know for sure
Just what they do each October weekend
and I’ll be curious no more

OCTOBER BIRTHDAY SPIRTS

Clarisse looked in the mirror inspecting her look for the evening. She thought perhaps the short sleeved dress might not be warm in the evening chill, but she knew once she got into the club that it would work well. Her silver and ruby spider bracelet glittered; skull and skeleton necklace glimmered and the skull earrings with ruby eyes went perfect with her attire. The newest jewelry piece was the ring she bought herself for her birthday; a black cat of black diamonds with a white gold band. Clarisse took one last look at herself. The spider and skull hair clips held her blonde tresses in place. Opening the closet near the door, she grabbed her black cloak; put it on and hurried out into the night. The evening had a slight chill. A gust of wind swirled leaves around the front yard. Eerie shadows from the light of the moon played tricks on the ground. Clarisse laughed it all off as she hurried to her ride. Tonight the moon was full; the stars twinkled like diamonds in the night sky.
Well on her way to the club, Clarisse wondered if any of her friends had planned a birthday surprise for her. This was a big birthday year, her quarter century one. The last few years they’d always do something to surprise her. Born in October, Clarisse celebrated her birthday from October the first to Halloween.
As she flew down the street, she noticed a prime parking spot in front of the club, THE GHOUL DROP IN. The purple and green lighted marquee over the entrance listed the name of the night’s entertainment; The Bat Viper Five were playing. This was one of Clarisse’s favorite bands. She dismounted her broom at a parking spot; with the twirl of her forefinger three times, the broom became secured to the parking meter; she then circled her hand five times and five hours of parking appeared. The vampire attired doorman-bouncer opened the dark green door for her. She walked inside, checked her cloak at the coat check area then walked into the large bar area. At once she knew it was going to a great evening. A larger banner hung on one wall with the words “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLARISSE’.
As she made her way over to her friends, a server handed her a drink in a silver goblet. Clarissa thanked the server and looked down at the vessel containing the black and orange drink.
“Cheers to my birthday,” Clarisse said to herself as she took a generous gulp.
‘Not bad’, she thought, as she took another sip; ‘seems as if Emalee Witching has been concocting up some new brews this week’.
Clarisse wondered just what other drinks she’d be tasting for the first time that night; then wondered which of her friends, Darcella or Magalena would be the DBF (Designated Broom Flyer) that evening.
The last thing Clarisse wanted was getting stopped for a FUI (Flying Under Influence) on her birthday.
