MAY DAYS of FUN....Day Eight

A short read today.
I’m continuing my salute each day to a different branch of the military during Military Appreciation Month.  Today I am celebrating the COAST GUARD as all other branches (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines) have been celebrated.   I wondered this morning about what I’d do for tomorrow.  It dawned on me I could celebrate the women’s branches (which many began during World War II and now just combined as one branch).
Yesterday I ran out for quick trip to a store.  While on the street traffic had come to a stand still.  It wasn’t due to road construction or a mail truck or trash truck stopping every few feet or even accident; it was a family of Sandhill cranes making their way from the lake crossing the road to get to the other side.  This is quite common but it’s been awhile since I’ve had the opportunity to see any.  This inspired me to write about them for today.
Until tomorrow....it’s Friday so wear your red (Remember Everyone Deployed).

Day 8....DAILY REFLECTIONS

Military Appreciation Month....today I
        celebrate the COAST GUARD
ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE and MARINES
celebrated previously....who should I celebrate tomorrow?
Maybe the WACs....of which I once proudly
        was

Sitting on the dock looking out at the lake
all is peaceful in the world
Just me alone this time of the
morning greeting the sun as it rises
A noise to my left startles me....interrupting
      the quietness of the lake
It’s the family.....mom, dad and two little
       ones taking a morning stroll
Along the shore line they saunter on spindly
legs....no cares they seem to have on
             this beautiful spring morning
Watching as they lumber on towards the
road I know when they cross over to the
         open area the opposite side
they will be holding up traffic
Until they do I’ll watch as they enjoy the
early morning solitude just me and the
         Sand Crane Family
