MAY DAYS of FUN....Day Fifteen

Can’t believe it is Friday already.  I’m trying to figure out what I did all week.  I know I decided to print off my tax form; since I did not get a document I needed I did not get them done early in April. Since we had an extension until July thanks to Corona figured why hurry to pay Uncle Sam his pound of flesh. Thought well I guess I’ll just print off form Monday.  Tuesday I made my way to the bank (the drive thru) where I sat in line 20 minutes to get a cashiers check for Uncle Sam.  Wednesday I put the forms and check into an envelope, sealed it with a kiss and mailed it out at post office.  Thursday I had to run out to the store for few needed items such as milk and cereal.   Wow my week gone in a flash. Ha ha!  Today is the birthday of the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps (WAACS) in 1942; in July of 1943 they dropped the work auxiliary and became just the WACs.  As a former WAC I wrote two pieces as well as mention in my daily reflections.  Odd I thought about few thing this morning such as half of May is gone already.  It’s also Friday the day I generally wear red to remember everyone deployed.  Lots of reflections for me today.  As I sit with my breakfast dessert, yes a chocolate chip cookie in honor of National Chocolate Chip Day, I’m thinking about peace officers as it’s National Peace Officer Memorial Day.  My mind now turn to lunch as yet two other weird holidays are National Slider Day and National Pizza Party Day.  I’m opting for the pizza over the sliders.  Do I always celebrate the weird/wacky holidays? Well I did do a short version of the chicken dance outside in my driveway yesterday.  Few cars went by and not sure if they saw or not.
To all the women who served as a WAC happy day to you.
Until next time....we need to keep positive and maybe celebrate the wacky/weird holidays for something to do till we are no longer on lock down; but we can continue to celebrate even after we are out of quarantine.

Happy Birthday to the WOMEN’s
       AUXILIARY ARMY CORPS
   also known as the WAACs
  (To become WOMEN’S ARMY CORPS....
       WACs....July 1943)
All who joined in 1942 pioneers in their day
Woman wanting to make a difference
to be part of the war effort
Serving stateside....serving overseas
But in 1978 they disbanded to be one
 with the men....now just ARMY
Honored to do my duty....proudly did I serve
But once a WAC always a WAC
     That’s the branch I joined....in 1970

I was proud to be a WAC
no I am not being wacky
When I went into the service
at that time women did not wear khaki

I was honored to serve my country
during the years of the Vietnam War
Those who marched and protested
     against it made very sore

I am glad I did what I did
and would proudly do it again
America ‘love it or leave it’ is my motto
and I’ll defend it till the end
