Memorial Day was rainy off and on all day. I was up early thanks to my one neighbor who came over at 6:30 to drop off something to us. I guess she saw a light on so figured we’d be up and about. About 10:00 I headed outside to do personal services with my husband as we paid tribute to those who fallen upon the field of battle. We stood in a light drizzle as we both placed a flag in our front yard; read a poem each; said a prayer then held a few moments of silence. We then pulled up “TAPS” on YouTube and listened. After going back inside, we opened a cold beer to toast our fallen heroes. It’s what we would have done if at a service at one of the vets clubs. At 3:00pm we went outside to sound “TAPS” again hoping more in the neighborhood would be out but again it drizzled so it was my husband, myself and my neighbor’s dog who usually barks at me but he was quiet, as if he knew why we were out there I did miss honoring and paying tribute with those assembled at the vets clubs; but we did what we must do.
Today’s poems were from my wearing the tiara in Sunday while staying indoors. I had planned to sit outside Sunday but the weather did not permit it to be. The piece I wrote reflected my day as well as what I ended up reading. I dedicated it to the two self-published authors whose works I read; Terry’s haikus and rereading Sharon’s book which I have not read in years. Again these come from life events which means they’ll go in the memories collection.
Until next time....have a nice day.

Day 26....DAILY REFLECTIONS
It’s early morn and I’m thinking about the
rainy Memorial Day weather from
yesterday....off and on drizzle all day
My plans not affected....I did my personal
tribute in the wet weather....after all, our
troops don’t take a day off due to the
rain
Looking at weather app...shows rain again today....it’s 4:00am.....I’m going back to
sleep

QUEEN FOR A DAY

I wore my tiara on International Tiara Day
Sitting on the couch, my own
personal throne
Just reading ebooks on my Kindle
I was the queen inside my home
Posted a selfie on Facebook
to inform others about the day
Waited for comments from my friends
wondering what would they say
It’s fun doing to do things off the wall
celebrating wacky/weird holidays
Can’t wait to see what June will bring
as there were really fun ones during May

Solace In Books

The dreary Sunday morning weather
made me feel blah
Being stuck inside....not much fun
Rain showers canceled my plans
but I had books I could read
I had coffee to perk me up
The dreary Sunday afternoon weather
made me feel blah
Still stuck inside....not much fun
Rain showers continued....canceling my
plans
but I had books to read
I had lemon water to drink
The dreary Sunday early evening weather
made me feel blah
Still unable to venture outdoors
Rain continued to ruin my plans
but I had books to read
I had wine to drink
Books....the constant in my day
I read a few of Terry’s haikus
Then began to reread Sharon’s book again
Danielle’s story always made me smile
