Can’t believe this is the last Saturday of the month. Where did May go? It’s not like I did anything spectacular all month. I am hoping June will be better and things can get partially back to some type of normal.
May 30th was Decoration Day. As a kid I remember having the day off school whether it’d be a Monday, Tuesday or so forth. I remember when it was changed to being called Memorial Day and being on the last Monday of May. I still don’t like the fact it’s a three day holiday; but that’s my opinion. Today’s reflection centered on the possibility of having another service to honor our heroes later in the morning.
My poem today centers around an individual going to sit at the lake to watch the sunrise and bowing their head in prayer. The narrator feels serene and at peace and decides to make the lake part of their routine from here on out. We sometimes find we need to take time out for moments of quietness; I find comfort after I pray and make it a part of my mornings and evenings. Adding a new routine to our life and possibly removing another is what keeps us going. I don’t like feeling stuck doing the same old but like to up my game when I can. Today I do plan to do another Memorial Service as the one I did on Memorial Day it was drizzling. This time it should be fine. Hopefully my neighbors will be out and able to participate from of course a distance. This is another Lake Jackson poem; which I’ll add to my collection. More about that in another blog.
Until next time....it’s National Creativity Day; try to be creative if you can.

Day 30....DAILY REFLECTIONS
Today is the May 30th....the original
Memorial Day....once known as
Decoration Day
I’m thinking about my own personal way to
honor the day....perhaps I’ll do another private Memorial Service outside at home
again
The weather app shows no rain till later in
the day....hopefully my neighbors will
be outside to participate today

NEW PLANS
© Scottie-ann Murphy
I watched as the suns first rays brighten up
the day
Sitting on the lake dock I bowed my head to
pray
I thanked the Lord for seeing me through
another night
Then thanked Him for the sunrise, a truly
beautiful sight
As I spent the time with our Lord in prayer
I thanked Him for his all loving care
His guidance to always help me through
Times of troubles and when I feel blue
The day then appeared much brighter
somehow
After my time in prayer; I do know now
We all need to take the time to
contemplate
What lies ahead in our lives and what’s our
fate
As I watched the sunrise on a new born day
I sat at the lake dock and I did pray
My sunrise time with the Lord was quite
serene
I plan to make this a part of my daily
routine
