MAY DAYS of FUN....Day Thirty-one

Yesterday I received sad news before 9:00am a very special person from my past had passed away.  Bad news before 9:00am in the morning, sets the tone for the rest of the day or so according to my step-grandmother, Katie.  I had not been in any contact with this person in years, but they did cross my mind every now and then.  I gave this man the title of “Uncle” for some reason as did two other friends.  He was a very dedicated individual to veterans as well as the American Legion.  I decided to compose a piece for today in his memory.  It’s going to be part of my new collection of patriotic poems.  I constructed the poem yesterday to post in the blog today.  After the news received it gave me more meaning to the Memorial Service I held on the original Memorial Day date (May 30).  I went outside, placed my flag in front of my residence; read the poem I composed for this individual; read another piece: had a few moments of silence; said a prayer and played “TAPS” from my IPHONE. After going back inside, my husband and I opened a beer in honor and tribute to Fred Wagner. I thought again about him this morning.  It made me realize we need to try to keep in touch as much as possible with those in our lives we may have not been in contact with for awhile.  As this man was WWII (as well as Korean) veteran; I wondered how many WWII vets remain.  I know we lost one who was a member of my AMVETS Post back in April.
Today is another day, the last of May.  June begins tomorrow and I realize it’s been 75 days since I’ve been out to see people at the veterans clubs.
Until next time....have a Blessed Sunday and don’t forget to 😃 smile; it’s NATIONAL SMILE DAY. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
