I actually did not wake up early. I slept in until a later hour and here it’s 9:00am and I’m writing this. Outside I hear birds chirping and my neighbor’s dog barking at passing traffic.
Today I really don’t have any place to go. I saw my husband yesterday seeing him again tomorrow and Sunday.
Later today I’ll go out as I need few things from the store for Monday for the Amvets. We’re having hamburgers and hot dogs after our Memorial Day Services. I volunteered to pick up different type pickles.
I’m still debating which of last year’s poems to read. I’m now leaning toward the one about what the day is and is not. Generally I don’t have an option but this year I do; wrote two pieces last year I never read due to COVID lockdown.
Yesterday I wondered about the traffic on the road. It was if the snowbirds never left. I wondered about it all.
It’s Friday and a three day holiday weekend begins tomorrow. If you have any plans; one should be to try to attend a Memorial Day event in your community; buy a poppy from the American Legion and give a few moments of silence for those who perished upon the battle field. There are seventy-two hours in the three day weekend; taking time out to remember those who gave their all is not asking much.
Until tomorrow....remember to wear your red today and as always Stay Safe.
