JUST THOUGHTS and SUCH....June 14th

This will be a short blog today.  It’s flag day. I ventured to place my flag out in front this morning; read my flag poem afterwards.  My neighbor’s dog was out and so was their cat (not Tom the usual cat).  The dog barked and the cat just watched me.  Although the dog stopped barking as I read the poem.  Guess he thought I was talking to him.  Besides Flag Day it’s the birthday of the Army.  Today’s piece is about the flag. It would have bern read at Flag Day services if I attended but I’m still keeping distance yet.
Until next time....it’s also National Bourbon 🥃 Day Enjoy.

  June 14th.... DAILY REFLECTIONS

   Happy Birthday U.S. Army....Happy Flag
Day....two patriotic holidays....or so in my
            mind

I will post my flag outside in my front yard....
have a drink to the Army....why not drink to the Army....I proudly served as a WAC

Of course I’d even toast the Navy on its
birthday in October....but before that I’ll
have a drink to the Coast Guard in
August and Air Force in September

June the fourteenth
          FLAG DAY
  Various nick names
       Old Glory....
           The Stars and Stripes....
                The Star-Spangled Banner....
                    The Red, White and Blue....
All refer to our Nation’s emblem....the FLAG
Proudly it waves in the breeze
Our flag has gone to war with our
    servicemen and women
And it flutters upon the graves of those
who served with pride and honor
Thirteen stripes....representing the original
       colonies
    Fifty stars....one for each state
The Red....symbolizes valor
   The White....liberty and purity
      The Blue....justice and loyalty
Today we celebrate our country’s Flag
The symbol of our Nation....the land of the
free and home of the brave

Today is National Bourbon Day
Three cheers for Jack, Jim and Evan
I heard in heaven there is no beer
But hope there’ll be bourbon in heaven

Williams, Daniels or Mr. Beam
All my bourbons of choice
I prefer Mr. Beam’s Red Stag Bourbon
Flavored black cheer and rejoice

Here’s to National Bourbon Day
Mixed, on the rocks or straight
I’ll have a drink to celebrate
Red Stag black cherry will be great
