I realized today was the 25th of June. It’s six months or actually 183 days till Christmas. I am amazed how fast 2020 has gone. I decided to Google other holidays I yet to put on my countdown list. Actually there are a few I celebrate that are military related or patriotic related that come after Halloween and before Christmas. They will be added eventually to my daily list as something is removed. I don’t know where the thought of today’s poem camr from but I think it’ll be dedicated to Terry Sampson who wrote about nursery rhymes in a haiku and poem yesterday. It made me think about my favorite books as a child. I would sit in a corner (my reading nook) and immerse myself in either Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden mystery books. I think it was these two series that got me into liking to read as well as reading mysteries. As I thought about this yesterday I decided to log into my local library website and download a Nancy Drew to read on the Overlook app for borrowing ebooks. Of course I’ll have it completed by the fourteen days allowed to have the book. I realize the Trixie Belden books are not available and only found actually three of the Nancy Drew books. These books were of a more simpler time and place that is for certain.
I felt as I wrote the poem as an adult instead of just lemonade to sip on as a when younger I needed to add vodka to it also.
Until next time....think about reading material from your youth. Besides the two series I mentioned I remember reading Archie Comics and other adolescence books found in the library. Enjoy your Thursday.

June 25....DAILY REFLECTIONS I realized the date this morning....June
25th....that means six months till
Christmas (183 days)
Then I Googled how many days till
Halloween π 128 days.....Thanksgiving
π¦ is 154 days....eventually I’ll put
them on my Daily Holiday
Countdown
But what I really thought was more
important was how many days till a more
important day.....VETERAN’S
DAY....that’s 139 days....it gets put
on the Countdown today

CHILDHOOD/ADULT READING
© Scottie-ann Murphy
(Dedicated to Terry Sampson....as her Haiku and poem for June 24th brought back childhood reading memories)
I love a good mystery, oh yes indeed I do
A Senior Citizen amateur sleuth call me
Nancy Drew
Don’t call me Jessica Fletcher, that truly is
not me
For in my youth it was Nancy Drew who
kept me company
A corner of the living room, was my reading
nook
I would sit and lose myself in a Nancy
mystery book
I wanted to be exactly like her, even
still today
Snooping to solve a puzzlement that
caused someone dismay
Logged onto the library website and then
I took a look
From there I downloaded, a Nancy Drew
mystery book
I’ll sit with a glass of lemonade and read
and read away
Such a wonderful way to end this hot and
humid day
I feel a bit like a rebel so in the lemonade I
oughta
Be the adult that I am and add a shot of
vodka
