APRIL and POETRY MONTH....Day 11

It’s Sunday and good day to you all. I slept in today till seven; so I’m typing this late. At 2:00pm, I’m going to see my husband. Taking a small cheese pizza too.  Been awhile for pizza for me and him.
Yesterday I went to listen to karaoke at the Amvets. As person who does ads for events, I needed to check out the entertainment I’ve advertised for this event. Now hubby and I use to attend karaoke all the time, but after awhile it got boring. So I went to listen to people sing. As always some good and some well they do try.
The piece “The Magician” reflected my mood on Friday.  It was how I felt.  I only hoped the person who makes me invisible did not show up where I was. Funny how that can happen. In “Coffee Time” I took a romantic setting and used it whimsically as the couple stand to view the sunrise.
Terry’s word yesterday was FISHING.  Now this is indeed a true piece. As a kid my step-siblings and I had these bamboo fishing poles.  I learned to bait my own hook and take off the fish.  If the fish was big enough to keep, it would be put on a stringer. I could do that too.  I once went on a date while in the army with a guy.  We fished the Chesapeake Bay.  The event there in the poem did happen.  As for the part about my husband (my first husband) and his friend it occurred.
I enjoy writing memoir poems at times.
Yesterday the wacky holidays were a bit strange; but I pulled the piece together.
Until tomorrow....enjoy your Sunday and as always Stay Safe.

                THE MAGICIAN
  Today my mood
       Joyful
Nothing can get me down
Of course it’s still early in the day
People have acknowledged me
I was worthy of their hello
But then things can change in a
     heartbeat
If and when it happens
no doubt it’ll be the magician
Who seems to make me become
     invisible

                  COFFEE TIME
Over the lake the sun rises
Hand in hand we view the
   awakening sun
A new day begins
another day for us to be together
   Endless possibilities
      unknown adventures
        we will encounter
   Silence between us
No words do we speak
as the sky begins to turn from
   darkness to light
You turn towards me
I see the question in your eyes
My free hand gently caressing
  your face
Softly I say “Yes....it’s coffee time”

               FISHING FUN

My bamboo fishing pole
  tossed in the lake
Such a beautiful day July afternoon
I watch....wait for the bobber to go
      under
Oh I caught ten sunnies
Ha....ha....ha... my brother only six
 Beginners luck

Fishing fun for a girl of eight
Never done this activity before
I can bait my own hook....remove
  the catch myself
No slimy worms bother me

Cast a line into the bay
 Such a warm summer evening
Oh what do I have on the
  end of my pole....it’s pulling
Yikes it’s an eel....I’m not touching that
Cut the line....to release it
My date boasts he got six fish
 Don’t like braggers....he’s history

Two rods and reels placed in the water
On such a hot June night
From the dock I fish
My husband and his friend in a boat
try different spots on the lake
Thirteen fish do I catch....all keepers
  put on a stringer
They will make good filets
Ha...ha....ha....between them the men
      have eight

Sometimes the fish just bite for me

   WACKY HOLIDAYS APRIL 10th
(National Siblings Day; National Farm
Animals Day; Safety Pin Day and World
 Circus Day)

A class trip to a farm in autumn
  to see the cowschickenspigs and
       horses
Safety pins keep our name tags attached to our shirts
Farmer John will take us on a hayride
  through the cornfields
Many classmates wanted to attend the
     circus
Our older siblings class trip was there
But I’d rather be in the country having
  fun on an October day
